Posted 11 Sep 2017 I have been informed that "Leo planned his decease himself, he had been ill for several years. It all went in accordance with the rules (law) and accompanied by doctors". Little Leo was a good friend of mine. May he have found the peace he had been longing for so long.
Posted 11 Sep 2017 wow. much harder to do in this country, but it's certainly his decision and I'd heard he was dealing with some serious problems. Glad you got to spend those formative years alongside him.
Posted 11 Sep 2017 Leo Cuypers was a very lonely person...So sad. He also had a serious stage fear. He told: "It started with no longer being able to eat for a performance. Then followed in the morning to wake up and immediately surrender. It was so bad that I didn't get well a week before a performance. It ended up with great concerts I was offered with the excuse that I had broken my wrist. "
Posted 11 Sep 2017 When I casually mentioned his death here last Wednesday, I had no idea that there was so much drama in his life. Makes you wonder if he was unable to just use the studio to perform and record. We would've been able to experience much more methinks.
Posted 8 April RIP to this fascinating pianist/composer who I just discovered recently; this film/footage of the "Zeeland Suite" is just simply mesmerizing to watch. Awesome to see Willem Breuker, Harry Miller and such in 1977!
