  2. This is one of my favorite Monk Quartet albums. Especially outstanding is the track on Disc 2 "Misterioso". It features some truly amazing solos from both Charlie Rouse and Monk.
  3. Thanks. I'll check it out. I can hear that. They're both coming out of Coltrane -- like nearly everyone was back then.
  4. Yes, it's £42 here. I have this by him which is great fun https://www.discogs.com/master/1056751-Akira-Miyazawa-Round-Midnight-Amazing-Jazz-Ballad He reminds me of Billy Harper somehow
  5. Ugh. Sorry to hear this. Terrible news. NP:
  6. Today
  7. This is an interesting / confusing discussion. I have friends that are successful artists / painters. They tell me the they get nothing when their paintings are resold on the secondary market. Apparently they can only "write-off" the cost of their materials. One has a "side deal" with a gallery where they pay him a (very) modest amount when one of his paintings is resold. I'm not an expert or an accountant / lawyer, but that's what I've been told.
  8. Just read that Sheila Jordan is in hospice. Sad news. I decided to spin this one.
  9. LaBrassBanda - Danzn (Universal)
  10. I wasn't aware that it had been reissued either -- until I saw it on Dusty Groove's site. According to Discogs, it was reissued in January of this year. I'm super-stoked that it's available again. I'm not a Japanese jazz expert, but it's definitely one of the most compelling J-jazz albums I've ever heard. EDIT The down-side of the reissue? Like many Japanese reissues, it's not cheap. It cost me nearly $50. OTOH, the one original Kiso listed on Discogs is priced at $1,649. 😬
  11. How does an artist become eligible to be covered by this law?
  12. Keith Jarrett “Life Between the Exit Signs” Vortex/Warner 24 bit cd Japan Keith Jarrett’s first session recorded as a leader, with Charlie Haden and Paul Motian.
  13. IIRC (and I often don't) California has a similar a"visual artists' rights" law.
  14. Very compressed and slightly edgy sound.
  15. not a specific lawsuit, but adoption of it in the US is constantly being argued between artists, galleries, and auction houses. It has gained some ground overseas.
  16. @jazzbo, what aspect(s) of their "house sound" don't appeal to you? I'm just curious.
