  2. Dan, After opening the link you posted and reading about the book, I am in. Will place a preorder today or tomorrow.
  3. I have learned over many years, that the role of one's spouse in selecting audio equipment (especially speakers) is crucial. Back long ago when buying my Magnepan speakers my wife had see them. She was not convinced about the Magnepans due to the very large size. But after hearing them in a great listening room in a stereo shop, she agreed that the sound was so damn good that she supported my getting them.
  4. This is a pretty percussive affair: https://www.discogs.com/release/6157965-The-Jazz-Afro-Cuban-Beat-Guest-Star-Shelly-Manne-Hot-Skins/image/SW1hZ2U6MTQ4MDI4Mjg=

  7. While its not really my favorite Mobley, it should be noted that we can thank Schlitten for the documentation of the Cedar Walton - Hank Mobley Quintet on Breakthrough! which sadly did not breakthrough to keep the band a going concern. Anyone else a definite yes on the Schlitten photography book? I am only holding off on a pre-order because I don't want to pay up front right now - although Amazon at $49.99 and the publisher at $49.99 suggests that the price isn't going to get better than it is right now. https://www.fantagraphics.com/products/love-and-understanding-the-jazz-photography-of-don-schlitten?srsltid=AfmBOorTUdNY8QXY6sETJTRLDf-807tEPsq1H7nvUfuNp-6TiIYZsNT4&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAYnJpZBEyWFE2ZjB4dUFBdTdFQnRUcnNydGMGYXBwX2lkEDIyMjAzOTE3ODgyMDA4OTIAAR4v2SC7DtKlXG7LWiYpKBxEYRh1IKBsLfDMjAML2DmuUeiBG84hjmGdubH14g_aem_36yPWZqXdscuyGnoHFwAUg

  9. RIP. His work with Xanadu is legendary snd I have a lot of his work in my collection. Beautiful homage by Zev.
  10. TPs should be for BNs, Pacific and associated jazz labels, which focus on instrumental music. In my view Sinatra doesn’t fit the bill. UMG could start a separate branch for Sinatra and other popular singers of the day.
  11. Dave Holland Big Band “What Goes Around” ECM
  12. String Quartets K387 K421 Don't know why the image was cropped.
  13. Indeed. For EU customers is also on preorder at jpc.de.
  14. Well, snow is back but not to the extent the East Coast is being blanketed with thank goodness. No need to even shovel yet. Whew!’ Our warm spell is over for a bit though. Feels cold out there. I feel somewhat cold inside me lately, matchy matchy. Starting off the day with an engaging piano trio recordng from Orrin Evans, “Faith in Action” on Posi-Tone cd.What a talent Evans is! Evans has bassist Luques Curtis and drummer Nasheet Waits here, and is joined by guest drummers Rocky Bryant and Gene Jackson on some tracks. Evans’ percussive touch seems just right today.
  15. Dave Brubeck - Indian Summer (Telarc)
  16. I can't be the only one who was introduced to latin music by Colon's Fania records with Lavoe. A huge world of music that he opened up.
  17. It is being reissued next month (March) by Decca on vinyl. Another in Decca's excellent British Jazz Explosion series. It's on the Dusty Groove website and on several British sellers sites too. Very welcome reissue and kudos to Tony Higgins for making this possible. https://www.dustygroove.com/item/168238/Neil-Ardley-Ian-Carr-Don-Rendell:Greek-Variations-Other-Agean-Exercises
