  1. I bought the office suite from Jobs when I ordered my iMac.
  2. Have to admit not listening since the early '70s. I believe I had it on Argo at the time. I went through a fairly long Tippett phase in the '70s and '80s but it faded away. Only have a few discs on cd and a favorite is a BBC mag issue of 2 symphonies conducted by the composer. He's not well respected as a conductor but I like these recordings a bunch. Also have at least one cd of his piano concerto - interesting work.
  3. ECM does not own those Giuffre dates. They licensed them from Universal/Verve.
  4. Spring 2009, issue #53 has more Lowe(s) on page 35. I am waiting to see if he gets a hat trick.
  5. Different Dave Young. That Dave Young was from Chicago and played with Roy, the Hendersons, Lucky Millinder, etc.
  6. Better go with the Shatner.
  7. "Life is Total" seems like a cereal lawsuit in the making.
  8. Bob Steele Roy Rogers Don "Red" Berry
  9. Not essential.
  10. Just don't make a habit of it!
  11. Linda Hunt Linda Lovelace Lovelady Powell
  12. Very sorry to hear that. You are already missed.
  13. She had you sleeping on plastic sheets, didn't she.
  14. Deborah Paget Little Debbie Tiny Little
  15. Charles Laughton Elsa Lancaster Elsie the Cow
  16. The photo is stolen and the design is copped from the Legacy Monk in Tokyo set. Can't these folks do anything original??
  17. Yup. No other Sackvilles on the label. Sackville decided they could not reissue it for technical reasons and returned the tapes to Roscoe. Have no idea about the processing of the recordings but a bunch of tape print was on the masters. It can be corrected but takes a lot of time and patience.
  18. I can remember the name Winky Dink and You, but I must not have liked the show, because I can't remember watching it. I did the whole deal. You ordered a set which consisted of a translucent green plastic sheet and a bunch of fat crayons. The plastic was placed on the tv screen and you followed the lines with the crayons. My first experience with "interaction" and the media.
  19. Since we are into the "art world", does any member have experience with Winky Dink?
  20. Dennis Gonzalez posted this at Jazz Corner: My long-time playing partner and drumming legend, Alvin Fielder, who lives in Jackson, Mississippi, is suffering from acute heart problems, and has been bedridden for a month and a half or so. He was scheduled to play Vision Fest last June with Kidd Jordan and declined due to failing health. He is too weak to undergo the necessary open-heart surgery, but hopefully he will regain his strength soon...we need him back playing again. Alvin turned 73 in November of this past year and is known for his excellent drumming with the Roscoe Mitchell Quartet (just before it became the Art Ensemble and they all left for Paris without him), Braxton, John Cage, Sun Ra, Leroy Jenkins, and thousand of other musicians. Send up your prayers and meditations for his return to health, please!
  21. Shortly after issuing the Uptown Mingus set Collins' grandson emailed me to point out he was in the trumpet section of the SF big band sides included. He was proud of that.
