  1. Nothing wrong with the original. FWIW, "Piano Starts Here" ('70s lp and later cd) includes 4 (important) studio recordings from 1933. No mention of them. Marketing hucksters muck around the serious music world.
  2. My dream is a series between my 2 favorite teams - Red Sox/Cubs. My sentiments are for the Cubs but I don't think so............ Good luck Dan.
  3. Once again Cubs win and Brewers lose. Life is good.
  4. If you love Desmond check out the early quartet stuff on Fantasy (both live and studio). These are my favorites. The early Columbia material has not been reissued properly.
  5. I hope to be there for the whole deal. If it completely sucks, I still win.
  6. "THE ENGINES is a new quartet featuring: Jeb Bishop - trombone Dave Rempis - reeds Nate McBride - bass Tim Daisy - drums This self titled disc is a set of wonderful fluid compositions (two each by the members of the group) recorded in Chicago, in November 2006. The disc is set off by tight and cohesive group interaction. Another high water mark for the carriers of all concerned and proof that forward thinking jazz still thrives in the heartland. 1. Riser (McBride) 2. Jet Lag (Bishop) 3. Careful (Daisy) 4. Mish Mumkin (Rempis) 5. Rewind (Bishop) 6. Backend Cover (Rempis) 7. Four Broken Plates (Daisy) 8. Mash Tun (McBride)"
  7. Coming in a few months is a Rosolino/Carl Fontana live date on Uptown. It was recorded in Vancouver, August '78.
  8. Dubbed from Boris Rose lps of some tv shows. Great music, questionable sound.
  9. As usual, I blame Dick Cheney. 9/16/07
  10. Forever her name will now be Joyce Hatto-Hoax. Certainly not what the hubby had in mind.
  11. Sounds like some version of a "Playboy profile".
  12. Some sort of stuffed eggplant.
  13. Serious answer. My mother-in-law's cd player scratched up a couple of my discs on a holiday visit. Your player might be the reason.
  14. Sheb Woolly Monty Woolly Monty Waters
  15. That's the first cover. The one I bought around 1961 was white with green, red and black accents. Miles photo was on it too.
  16. Start with the Ping singles (45 or 78).
  17. Morris Levy Oscar Goodstein Pee Wee Marquette
  18. Seems you are on top of this stuff Georgia.
  19. REPEAT!
  20. Great story. All the best to the two of you.
  21. Am I the only one who finds this little tidbit very disturbing? All fine and dandy on the "soul mate" front and the search for good vibes in partnership and marriage, but I sincerely hope some of Mike's best friends told him he was an utter jerk in this respect; if not for leaving the mother of his 4 month old child, then for not leaving her 13 months earlier. Unless you know all of the circumstances, John, I don't think you should judge. What if she had told him she was on the pill and lied and that is how she got pregnant? What if she is the one to shut him out and prevent contact? I don't know what the law is in Germany but in the States a Father may have money taken out of his paycheck to cover court-ordered child support and at the same time, barring allegations of abuse, Fathers have visitation rights. Either way though I would not judge anyone's choices unless they went running because they refused to support or have any concern for their child. Whatever the story, it was a disturbing post for me.

  25. I said "starange" as did you, knucklehead.
