I am really disturbed by the direction of this thread. The future of "the music" and how it develops is a huge question for me. If the answer is posts above, we be gone. Music should be a living thing, not parasites mining the past for a "style" on which to build a career. That shit don't work anyway.

Most of my favorite Shaw performances are as sideman. His "leader" dates always disappointed with the one exception of "Stepping Stones".

Clifford, do you know what the "CC" series was? Edit to say: Understanding the various reissue series is more important than understanding music. OTOH, do you know what the "whatever" series is?

I have never seen the book but I look to Davis for a personal take on things. I like what I have read a great deal.
