  1. Roy is a "major artist" in my book. If you don't dig him that is ok too. Whatever.
  2. Sweet potato chili, courtesy of Lonson/Lon/Jazzbo. Thanks.
  3. Don't own any of 'em. Not a value judgment, just a fact.
  4. I think young kids would "get" Ayler before most parents.
  5. -Art Pepper with the Sonny Clark Trio- : Art Pepper (as) Sonny Clark (p) Harry Babasin (b,cello) Bobby White (d) Live, "Lighthouse", Hermosa Beach, Ca., March 30-April 1, 1953 Deep purple Bluebird 'S wonderful Pennies from heaven Holiday flight Brown gold These foolish things Tickle toe Tenderly Strike up the band Night and day
  6. Cha Cha J is track 7 on my cd.
  7. Kool, Clinton, JB, Sly (to some extent) etc nailed this shit. MD was a pale wannabe at the time. He brought a bunch of "sophistication" to the deal but was ultimately lame.
  8. Transcription of a violin sonata? Galway? Shame.
  9. Not me. I set up blockers 30 years ago.
  10. Good to see your finances have improved..................................
  11. Looking forward to reports. Sorry I can't be there. Good luck Michael
  12. FWIW, this set was pressed by Columbia, very good pressings at that time.
  13. My last beverage was milk with dinner.
  14. Love a bunch of stuff I've seen. For "awe inspiring" I suggest the Black Canyon in Colorada and Utah for Zion. I'll never forget these.
  15. I need every inch I can get. Why think small? Size gets you in, thinking makes you small, supersize keeps you out, decent size reveals your talent. We ARE talking about the stock market, right?
  16. IF YOU DON'T HAVE BRILLIANT CORNERS AND MONK'S MUSIC GET THE FRIGGIN DISCS. Sorry to be so rude, but Jeez.
  17. Very much so. (sorry to go off-topic) I sent you there.
  18. Complete discographical info and 10 pages of miniscule text by Dan Morgenstern wasn't enough for you?
  19. Same mastering engineer, same pressing plant, couple of years later. How much do you treasure another two inches? This is an artifact/nostalgia issue.
  20. All the best my friend.
  21. Baby Face "Stop and Listen", 4084, NY label.
  22. Terrific date. Probably my favorite Parlan trio record.
  23. More like a few thousand. First pressing for this set would be about 5000 by my estimation. I'd guess most of the errors have not been discovered. How many folks bought the set, knowing the music and shelved it after sampling a couple of discs? This happens countless times.
  24. Does that phone number work since the Sony/BMG merger?
