  2. Not Roscoe.
  3. and now out of print.
  4. She is very welcome here! Thanks guys. Hi Laurie. Remember me? We talked about an all star set at the Chicago Jazz Festival and I did you guys a favor. One night we went for breakfast past the Biograph Theater.
  5. Miles Ahead is a favorite since I bought it in 1961. I still play it a couple times a year.
  6. Balls and quick thinking are more frequent partners than dicks and quick thinking.
  7. Wilbur Sweatman.
  8. Looks like Billy Hart but could be a bunch of guys.
  9. Death of music.
  10. Don't care.
  11. Baikida Carroll, Wadud, and ?. Name escapes me.
  12. FWIW, I know one "exec" at a jazz label who was "let go" and he moved to an island to rest in luxury for the rest of his life as the result of his "benefit package". This is a guy I wouldn't hire to direct traffic.
  13. Guess I'm amazingly lucky. My wife likes (deals with) all the music and musicians. Not saying she understands everything but she has been by my side for 40+ years. Guess I'm really lucky.

  15. Clem, I've driven thru about 20 Iowa counties (4 times) in the last couple of months - where were you. I searched "the Ledges" and found no trace.
  16. They don't have a leg to stand on.
  17. YES! This and the other Columbia boxes of the time - Henderson, Lang/Venuti, Holiday (2) and Ellington (2) - were my introduction to the multi-disc era.
  18. All the best, you knucklehead.
  19. The question should be "Whose school is good in jazz." "Who's" is a contraction of "who is." "Whose" is possessive. Guess whose the teacher!
  20. Nope, I've had all my shots.
  21. "Between places" has been Joe's way of life.
  22. The problem with all these companies is the size of staff (count the credits listed on a typical Verve VME release) and the inflated (entertainment biz) pay these folks received.
  23. As I understand it, a bank wound up with the Riverside holdings and eventually created Orpheum to "showcase" the label for sale. It seemed to work.
  24. Go for it Randy!
