  1. Sorry to say the only time I heard her "in person" was with the last John Coltrane band at the Plugged Nickel. Last time I saw her husband too.

    MICHAEL BRECKER

Can't help but remember selling him records in Bloomington. He was the "hip" jazz student on campus at the time. His reputation at the time was connected to his brother being on the first BS&T record. Very sorry to hear of his departure.
  3. Ditto on all counts. Nice to see this thread back up. I listened to the first 4 records last week and was pleased again. Thanks to Pres, Potts and Norman.
  4. The Mosaic set had the following additional tracks: Beat-up team (second version) Cow cow blues One doggone reason Strange woman too It hurts me too Baby child (take 5) Talkin' the blues (take 1) Talkin' the blues (take 2) Can't stand your evil ways The girl I love Bad condition Come day, go day (take 2) Come day, go day (take 3)

  6. All the more reason to try and convince him to have them published in book form. Maybe we'll have to stage an intervention. You go first.
  7. I'm still getting 5.99.
  8. Somewhere I have a full sheet of Ellington stamps. It was a birthday gift from my parents.
  9. What Larry said. I would love having this stuff in book form - I'm weary of slogging through stacks of magazines to find the piece(s) I want (I don't have all of them). I understand Terry (probably my best friend) has other priorities but I regret the situation.
  10. Some jazz score, some doesn't.
  11. Branding is for cattle, not saxophones. It will damage the finish.
  12. Happy, happy birthday.
  13. Lots of fine folk born on this day. All the best.
  14. That's why I wrote "our solar return" in your bday thread. All the best to everyone having a birthday today, including my wife.
  15. Too many folks here pay too much attention to music enjoyed by children. I think nostalgia drives this.
  16. Send satchels of money.
  17. Oh my.....I don't even know what to say. Could there be a better concert than this? In the late '60s there were concerts like this all the time (minus young George).
  18. I'm thinking about a ticket. I'd love to hear this.
  19. Avoid the earlier single disc issue. It plays at the wrong speed.
  20. Many thanks for the link Brownie. Wonderful stuff. We are diminished.
  21. Check Amazon.
  22. Damn old farts.
  23. Jeez, Larry, you're old! But what I wouldn't do to have been there with you. I'm 64 but feel about a year younger. I'm about a year younger and feel FAR superior.
  24. Human creations from now on.
