  1. So much mumbo jumbo. Some of this stuff is beyond belief.
  2. Are those 4" heels Chris?
  3. I probably have more Johnny E on disc than any other group member. Keep it up Mr. E
  4. Very interesting character development and a couple of sly twists. I felt manipulated a couple of times but that was ok. The sum was much better than the parts. As we left the theater I heard the guy behind me say "That's the worst movie I ever saw". Geez, it contained sex and a car crash - wtf did he want? In the news: Sandra Oh has filed for divorce from Alexander Payne. B-) She's out there guys.
  5. Just some fashion models hired by Reid Miles, or Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore.
  6. It was recorded in '69 and was issued in the '70 or '71 - not sure. If there was a delay it was caused by label finances, not musical considerations. Anthony recorded this material in his apartment on a "home recorder" and delivered it to Delmark (to fulfill his contractual obligation and get some bread) when he was leaving for Europe. The tapes are/were pretty rough and I took a lot of crap from some poster at JC for the quality of the sound. He said something like "the label cheaped out" on the reissue, but I assure you there were no economic restraints on the project. There are a number of overloads, distortions, etc and we tried Cedar and NoNoise on various sections but I decided not to use them in the end. What you hear is a good representation of what's on the tapes.
  7. 'tis irritating to see whining about service on $5/6 cds. Been a BMG member for about 15 years (2 memberships) and a Yourmusic member since the $4.99 special offer. Forget the b/o, shipped crap and enjoy the really cheap cds you get.
  8. Please don't ask mom and dad "Are we there yet?".
  9. Very, very fine. After all these years it is great to see some of your work.
  10. Lazy Bastard responds with a "yes".
  11. Well, see, that's your problem right there. Smoking stunts your growth. I knew something was "stunting" this boy! ALSO - time to stop the allowance.
  12. My guess is Chris Connor.
  13. For a "representation of the time" and great friggin' music, the "Old Man Blues" from "Check and Double Check" is priceless. Sadly, I sent my tape of this to a friend (on the board) and it was lost. I'll get a DVD soon. I would say any available Ellington is worth the money.
  14. Sorry I missed it. Where is it? Big Al, I meant all the reissues you listed in your original post for this thread! OOOHHHHHHHH, now I get it! You meant that they had all already been released on your side of the pond! Some of us Americans, especially us Texans, are a little slow on the draw this AM! Don't want to search for it but we did talk about these releases about a month ago. I remember giving praise to Sweets and the Jam Session disc.
  15. Just finished the first disc of the Hill Select. First Mosaic I've played in about 6 months but it was in my box this morning.
  16. Sorry we missed it. Our "errands" took much longer than I thought. We didn't get to eat 'til after 9.
  17. I have a 1219 dedicated to playing 78s. Great machine. I bought it (new) around 1970 (+ or -). United Audio was the US company that distributed Dual over here. They made their own base for the TT.
  18. Thanks for the pic.
  19. If you trade bits for music, you lose. B-)
  20. Hey, what time is the show? Ann and I will be shopping in the late afternoon, eating at Applebee's (to use up a gift certificate) and then..............
  21. It is at least very, very good. I have a habit of losing concentration on other Lyons dates (may be my flaw, but real). My "very, very good" qualification is 'cause I don't think he ever made the "best" recording in him.
  22. Another error in one of the AEC notes saying the Mitchell, Bowie, Favors trio dates from 1968.
  23. Lester Bowie told me of the various "sideman gigs" on Byg and America, Lyons was the only leader to hold rehearsals.
