  1. He was the best Italian jazz player I knew of in 1961.
  2. Since you have "Sophie" you should be able to figure it out. Nothing new and nothing missing on the current EMI lp dubs.
  3. Did his context involve Jutta Hipp, Lennie, Django, Solal, Carter, Hawkins, Armstrong, etc. These are your suggestions for discussion of the "Euro jazz/free jazz scene"? You are playing games not worthy of yourself - at least my impression of you.
  4. Wrong again Wheezie. I was in 10th grade in 1960.
  5. Can't believe the amount of crap posted by folks for whom I previously had some respect. George is talking about one group of musicians interacting/or not with another group of musicians in an important time frame. I suggest a few of you need to go back and read what George actually wrote and understand what he it saying. I really think some folks have not read the ma This is a 40 year old argument for me and I do not want to spend much time on it but SHIT! I was really bummed by Mr. Thompson and Mr. Lowe. I expected better.
  6. Geez, it's friggin' Buddy Rich in friggin' Miami. We can all write our own scenerios. Or were you mentioning some photo you have? B-)
  7. Have No Fear is no longer available (these were Japanese pressings from my licensee). Serenade And Blues is from the same session. His SteepleChase recordings get few mentions but they are very fine.
  8. Material from Bethlehem lps "The Winners Circle" and Blakey album. Back for a correction - It's all from the Blakey sessions. FWIW, it's Johnny Griffin, not Coltrane on the last 7 tracks.
  9. All cds, Hat or otherwise, are limited. Buy the sucker now.
  10. Incorrect. The tentette stuff was recorded for and by Capitol.
  11. Wonderful stuff. Had all the original lps but missed the box.
  12. Geez, I hate missed opportunities.
  13. I gave him that "credit" for a while, but it is getting really tiring.
  14. My take is he was an interesting person/personality at the time with little musical consequence. Not a "dis" just an observation from someone living thru the era.
  15. So, at age 16 or 18 or whatever - why be so arrogant to post a thread like this? You need to develope some respect for your audience. I started listening seriously to this music around 30 years before you were born. Why waste our time? Take some time and grow the fuck up.
  16. Did you do it? Details please. B-)
  17. No. The Tentette sides are not on the PJ set. The PJ set includes Annie Ross stuff and the reunion session not included in the Mosaic set.
  18. Jim, is this the reason Concord cancelled the next batch of releases?
  19. Weezie, you are one "piece of work". I sincerely hope you are unique.
  20. Just wish to point out my info came from Bruyninckx.
  21. Yes, it was on Goody, a Byg label used to issue "licensed" recordings.
