Organissimo at the Firefly
randissimo replied to connoisseur series500's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Greg, I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to hang with you.. -
It's a race issue alright, the race to keep sellin' those CDs and of course, keep the popularity of the alleged pop artist(s) alive, especially in Janet Jackson's case. She's in that "flavor of the month" industry where all of the artists have an eventual "expiration date".. And good press or bad press is better than no press... B)

SORRY, PATTY, Despite your charming assessment, I didn't save any of it. I'd be willing to bet that KROESEN saved every word. Why not E mail that prick. Note my new log in name. I forgot my password and also the password for my hotmail. Any PM to me have not been read as I forgot how to get on with that log in. GONE! DEEP (I Stay Fucked UP) (I can't wait to see this message mirrored) Whassup Sir. Deepness?

I think our thread-originator is bent on world domination and this thread was sapping his intellectual and physical strength. After all, he's not a young man and can't be expected to juggle as many oranges as some of us whippersnappers. His glory days are behind him and he is like the "old ones" in ancient times, relating experiences which are now legend. [OK, OK, he and I are close to the same age, but he has more rough miles on his odometer than I do ] SHOCK AND AWE, but not in the way that Mr Rumsfeld meant. No blood. No death. Just wide eyes, snickers and challenges. I miss that. BTW, welcome back, GROPE. It looks like this thread is just about played out .. and Deep never got around to saying what he thought of our Cd...
-
Well, Brad, perhaps another thread will be started. I have to admit that the sheer volume of this one was amazing. A new poster would have to set time aside to read it and get up to speed, if that was really possible. A FRESH START, by our thread originator would be interesting, but I suspect, like the rest of us, he has a life which demands his occasional attention. A life which is replete with many autos and willing oriental chickies. Long may he squirt. It was Deep while it lasted,,,, and sometimes cold too!

I know this bass player.. I've met him several times over the years in different shapes, sizes, situations, and colors.. The bass players who drive me mad are the ones who play time like a "runaway train"..

Ah Randy. Always pushin'.

Eric, I'm glad you like the Cd.. It was a unique experience for me doing that session. Dave Chown comes more out of a Classical piano background than Jazz and doesn't very often work with a rhythm section. Knowing this, Jack and I played the session with a different approach. We wanted to get Chown's music into a relaxed, playful, and spontaneous zone. Apparently it worked! See you on saturday..

Hey Eric, I have been enjoying all of the exchanges on this thread.. Very provocative indeed! By the way, we should put our heads together and figure out a way to get Organissimo a gig in TC. I'll be at 310 this Saturday playing for Dave Chown's CD release party.. Stop by if you get a minute...

I'm going to be in Chicago the weekend of Feb 13th & 14th.. It's not only the Valentine's Day weekend, it's my girlfriend Margaret's 50th Birthday celebration (which actually happens on Feb 12th) and she wishes to party in Chicago! So it's my task to find THE HAPPENIN' JAZZ CLUB FOR SATURDAY NIGHT.... Any suggestions? Links to Live Chicago Jazz Sites?

Please. Bush is a puppet, at best. I am of this belief as well... IMO Cheney is the one runnin' the show...

The 100K post is quickly approaching.. Who will be the lucky poster making Organissimo history!??

Me too, Mike. My first exposure to John was on Rural Still Life #26 with Tom Scott, many years ago, and he was superb. RIP, John Guerin~ ...that was a great album!
-
I feel fortunate to have played and recorded with Jimmy Forrest.. He was truly a great tenor sax man and a warm human being..
-
I watched an outstanding DVD entitled, "Caliente 54" .. I was particularly impressed with the Fort Apache Band.. I have since listened to 3 CDs on the Enja label. What a great mix of Afro-Cuban tradition and hard swingin' Jazz!

Word... A tastelessly corny stunt...

B) Is that Terry Bozzio's kit?

I first became aware of his creative approach to drums upon purchasing and listening to the Frank Zappa/ Jon Luc Ponty album "Music For Electric Violin & Low Budget Orchestra". Then I heard him on a couple of Joni Mitchell albums. In the late 70's I saw him at Fountain Street Church, Grand Rapids, Mi with Stan Getz. Great drummer! How old was he when he passed away?
