  9. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAZARO! Come on out to Dockers and have a beverage or 2 on me... B)
  10. My favorite Oscar Peterson album is the Verve recording "The Trio, Live In Chicago".. It was recorded in 1961 at the legendary "London House". The trio was Oscar, Ray Brown & drummer Ed Thigpen. Every track on this record swings profusely! I also just finished OP's autobiography.. An interesting read...
  11. Hummers are about the most vain and idiotic vehicles on the market.. What kind of people waste their bucks on a vehicle that looks like an armored truck and gets so many gallons to the mile?
  12. Wish I could do that! Hearing the G-man strangle a sax is akin to hearing a dentist drill. Actually, it’s much MUCH worse: one doesn’t expect to hear a dentist drill in a shopping center! I like the scene in the 2nd "Wayne's world" movie when Kenny G is playing and Wayne or Garth has a vision of being in a dentist's chair and the drill is whining...
  13. All the trails will be in great shape..
  14. Let's plan a ride.. Let us know when you have time to do it...
  15. If you can get to the UP we could maybe ride Grand island off of Munising Bay. It's an awesome ride! I ride a Giant NRS 2..
  16. Chuck, I'm very familiar with the Hart-Montaque trail. I first started riding it back in 1993 when they first paved it and opened to the public.. I've had some very memorable rides on that trail... Like the time I lost a wallet with around $250. in it. Within a couple of days I got a call from someone in New Era who had found my wallet and returned it to me with total contents intact!!! Would you be joining us for the ride?
  17. Just curious,,, Joe G and I are avid mountain bikers and are planning to squeeze in as many rides as possible between now and next Winter's return.. Michigan has some of the best trails in the US.. If you live in or near Mich or plan to visit Michigan and would like to ride let me know... There are plenty of bike rental outlets and I've got a Yakima 2 bike carrier on the back of my car..
  18. You're mixing something up with couw's favorite trumpeter. Of course - it's "Decoder". DOH! (and thanks, Joe. That means a lot to me as well.) Jim, Thanks loads for your comments! I made sure the cymbals were mixed so they would be bright and sparkly.. I would love to hear your quartet! If you could send me a CD I'll make sure it gets heard. There are 3 friends of mine who have Jazz radio shows who love to play music beyond just standards. Randy Marsh 4825 Chauncey Belmont, MI 49306
  19. Jazz is virtually non-existent in my Little Land O'Enchantment. Even our Smoothie station dried up and blew away. But I can offer you plenty of 'live' Country and Western. Yippee-yo-ki-yay. Where do you live? Sounds dreadful!
  20. It looks like you have a nice little scene there.. Does guitarist Bruce Dunlap ever play these clubs? he's been a friend of mine since 1976..
  21. I live in west Michigan where there are no Jazz clubs, only a few restaurants & brew pubs that book Jazz acts maybe once a week or once a month. Ann Arbor has 2 fulltime Jazz clubs. The Bird Of Paradise, which may be gone soon because of poor management; and the Firefly which is almost impossible to get booked into.. Detroit has a couple of Jazz clubs like Baker's and Bert's Place. There isn't really much of a Jazz scene in the Motor City these days, mostly Techno, Rock, & Hip Hop nite clubs.. I'm only 3 hours from Chicago where I occasionally go to get inspired. We have been trying to get Organissimo booked somewhere in Chicago but so far have had no luck.. It seems to me like there is a dwindling percentage of people these days who are willing to pay a cover and quietly sit and listen to the music. The best audiences for Jazz seem to be concerts in libraries, churches, colleges and music academies, and Jazz society events. Most of the gigs I play, we're usually at war with indiffernce and loud room chatter.. The Jazz Showcase in Chicago is the only place I know where the audience is instructed by owner Joe Siegal to listen or go somewhere else...
  22. Hey Wes, There's a friend of mine in Tucson by the name of RC Crawford. He's a guitar player and a really good one. If you happen to know him or see him, tell him Randy Marsh says "Hey"...
