  2. that's the ticket - whenever I get accused of saying something bad, I'll just say my account's been hacked. that explains a lot. Don't you guys know that I love Oscar Peterson and Fred Hersch? And I'm voting for Romney...........

    Dick Katz

I love Dick; he played at my wedding. Anything he played is worth owning.

  6. I don't know; just sent an email to Larry Apfelbaum, who works there.
  7. actually this is the most exciting thread in the history of Organissimo. I am completely aroused.
  8. I for one forgive Chuck.
  9. well....when I worked for the mayor of New Haven, who was the first African American mayor of that city, I ran the summer jazz fest. Bolton was from a nearbye place - Milford, I think. Someone came up with the idea to ask him to do a benefit for our summer music concerts; we asked and asked and he was always "too busy." We got out of office - and the next summer he did a benefit for the new, White, mayor. I don't believe it was an accident; though they may not have intentionally snubbed my boss, if was part of a whole series of things that happened in which he continually got less respect than equivalent white politicians. I see it as similar to a lot of the things Obama has suffered - a sense that the White guy is the competent guy, the one you HAVE to listen to.
  10. after going through more titles than than that kid in A Thousand Clowns had names, we have come up with one that is meant to evoke the old days of John and Alan Lomax traversing the South looking for field recordings - was wondering if anyone has rights to, or owns a photo like the old LC pics, something old and strange and out of the way, think: the old weird music. if so, we will pay you poorly for it, if at all.....actually we'll probably end up just sending you a CD - tempting, isn't it? Contact me at my email: allenlowe5@gmail.com thanks
  11. sure it was a sop - but not to the white folks, per se, but the Hippies - who intersect, I will admit. But those early Dr John Records (walter Bishop is on at least one) are junker classics. Dr. John has the feeling, or at least he did in the old days.
  12. don't talk to me about Bolton.
  13. I tried. I failed.
  14. but I like a pianist who screams along with his playing.
  15. Pedicin's a nice guy and plays very well. The biggest and most important issue he raises, really, is the closed-up nature of certain scenes, the failure of people who book places to display basic respect and common courtesies to musicians looking for work. As I have said over and over recently, the thing to realize is that the so-called "friends" of jazz - non profits, clubs owned by musicians and music lovers, pro-jazz organizations - really treat musicians in actually the same nasty/indifferent way as the larger and less personal institutions to whom they supposedly present an alternative, And this is nothing new; I saw it happening back in the '90s.
  16. I never worry about shipping delays. I'm not going anywhere.
  17. you knew Morty Gunty? There's a name from my entertainment past. Like that guy.
  18. I'm with Moms on this, though I don't want to create any additional emotional scars for Jeff. Toussaint was there, a good guy, but I just don't find him that compelling - now, Dr. John in his gris gris days is another matter..........................
  19. I love Overboard - now there's a N.O. guy who can SING. (It's on the Chess in New Orleans collection) -
  20. only about 500. Same price if you want it,
  21. all packed, and they will be in the mail tomorrow -
