  1. "If my dad had a good buzz going" lucky guy - my dad never had a good buzz going -
  2. as long as it's something simple, like washing your car - though I am tired of picking up Nessa's dry cleaning -
  3. even as a teenager I thought the Mamas and the Papas were too fake, overproduced - and now that I know what a degenerate John Phillips was, I have even less use for the band -
  4. that's what I was thinking - unfortunately I don't really have one anymore -
  5. well, I have a shelf full of punk rock -
  6. I've always felt responsible for Rod Serling's death - but it's a long story -
  7. Jazz Gillum Jazz at the Philharmonic Jazz is Dead
  8. way too much reverb - and listen to Cass solo on Dream A Little Dream of Me. She had a prom-band voice, in my opinion. Ok in harmony, mediocre as feature.
  9. Some can dish it out, but cannot take it.
  10. I guess cheaper means better -
  11. now I don't call them.
  12. maybe a musical, as long as it doesn't require too much dancing -
  13. my DVD collection of Snuff Movies.
  14. I can only quote Lennie Tristano (he said this to me circa 1975): "John Lewis? Now Hank Jones, THERE's a piano player - "
  15. I did some work for Rhino a while back - then the original guys sold it and started Shout - than I did some work for Shout, until they got annoyed at me for putting the kibosh on a Scott Joplin piano roll reissue - I informed them that these rolls, which for years were alleged to have been done by Joplin himself, were actually not (I think it was Mike Montgomery who found this out) - so they were a bit pissed off, as I think they would rather not have known this and just issued it, but now that they knew it they couldn't do it anymore, so I guess I lost them some money. oh well....
  16. how about a sitcom?
  17. doity, disgusting, boids - by the way, I'm not stopping until I pass Couw, who never liked me -
  18. I have a Beatles Lunch Box I can give you a deal on -
  19. anybody else ever notice what a lousy voice Cass Elliot had? She's always touted as this great singer, but she only sounds ok when buried in all that bad reverb they used on the Mamas and the Papas - on the solo stuff she sucks -
  20. actually, wasn't Paul Mauriat the original Love is Blue guy? It doesn't get any hipper than him -
  21. well, McCartney always had that lighter side to him, I think, even singing things like Red Sails in the Sunset and Til There was You, so I'm not sure he needed an external influence. Problem was that once the Beatles broke up he didn't have Lennon anymore to wring the sentimentality out of him - and Lennon didn't have McCartney anymore to wring the Yoko out of him -
  22. the sound of eggs frying is music to me ears - not mention 430 mg of cholesterol.
  23. I've always been bugged by John Lewis; though he was one of the first to praise Ornette, near the end of his life he made very disparaging remarks about Coleman, to the effect that Ornette had become just another musical nut - I think Lewis was an interesting composer but I weary of his pronouncements about the blues - what I get from his own blues playing is "hey, though I am sophisticated and erudite I have not forgotten my roots." Well, I feel the same way about myself - except I would add "handsome." the rest of the band is fine, however (the MJT?) -
  24. actually I don't think so - if you look in the back on the sign you can see that it's some Beekeepers gathering - and what the hell else does Charles have to do?
  25. actually that music hall thing is in a lot of McCartney - Good Day Sunshine, When I'm 64, more if I had time to look -
