it's not a good thing, though I've always felt the IAJE to be something of an uniformed dinosaur - though in 2001 or so I did go to one of their conferences, and it wasn't too bad - I just remember when, in the late 1970s, Al Haig asked me to do a mailing to various IAJE people to try to get in the conference, to do clinics, anything - we sent about 250 letters - with not a single response - I made lots of follow up phone calls, but these guys were cluless - "Al Haig? Who'd he work with? Charlie Parker? Hey, can you get us him instead?"
