  1. great article, Bill, thanks - funny thing is I have a whole set of front dentures, and I have no trouble playing with them in or out -
  2. I just look at every country that has strict controls - the populace is SAFER, less crime, less murder, more personal security virtually everywhere in Europe (England, France, Germany, Scandinavia) - that is the proof of the error of our ways, IMHO -

    Hi

    ever heard of Sonny Williams?
  4. but you know, if Dan Gould can end up next to Jesus at the Last Supper, anything can happen -
  5. gotta admit, that's one fake-looking picture - I mean, who knew Abe Lincoln was on one of those civil rights marches (he's right behind Baldwin)?
  6. great player, nutty guy - and I mean that in the best possible way - I had a 10 minute phone conversation with him about 10 years ago - and to this day I could not tell you what we talked about -
  7. "I guess it is just that old double standard that is AllenLowe." yes, I expect a lot of myself, but little of hammondcheese.
  8. guns don't kill people - bullets kill people -
  9. I went to a few of those Civil Rights marches, but then I stopped going - I mean, how many times can you watch Al Hibbler bump into Ray Charles?
  10. actually, if you look closely at that photo, I'm the black guy in the last row, third from the left -
  11. haven't seen it - is it a recent edition? I will say that Tony Russell is one of the best people in the field, and has done some particularly good work in the area of early hillbilly music -
  12. that's ok - I'm also accepting monthly pledges -
  13. I was killed in Korea - land mine, 1952 -
  14. that's ok - I will be accepting gifts for a few more days -
  15. "there may have been a tradition of beefy stiff guys at New Trier" hmmmm...must have been a wild time in the shower room after gym -
  16. "they can be found for ok prizes... " I'll take what's behind door number 2 -
  17. never liked the stones - I always thought Jagger/Richards had more talent as songwriters than performers - even when Brian Jones was in the band they always just seemed to be playing at the music rather than ever being inside of it, either rhythmically or musically -
  18. I tend to agree with him on that -
  19. along with RFK, the last of the great American political charismatics - I actually met him in 1962 -
  20. still stuck in hell, but many thanks everyone -
  21. I'd have to dig up the quote, but Williams actually had something complimentary to say somewhere about Elvis - as for Szwed, I think he was at University of Pennsylvania -
  22. it's now Longfellow Square - they present tons of stuff, though they won't even talk to me - Paul is still presenting, does a great job -
  23. "The modern day dead man refuses to compose." - Allen Lowe
  24. yeah, I've been fighting with those guys forever - morons, clueless -
  25. nasty guy, Calt, and I think it ruins his stuff - and by the way I love Skip James, who was one of he few brought back during the revival who seemed to have a conscious sense of change in his music - and it's irrelevant, but John Szwed told me he drove James around in those days, to concerts, etc -
