  2. let me add that I have two more sets coming in the end of this week - promos but absolute mint - $125 each plus shipping; intergalactic transport extra -
  3. thanks, it works nicely (especially when I attribute it to Nat Hentoff) - really, just kidding -
  4. thanks, good to know - will start looking around -
  5. Chris - I have actually found that the cheapest 3 chip camera shoots video that is essentially broadcast quality, the technology is surprising good - as for sound, an issue, yes, though, once again, I have found that a good external mike or an adaptor (which I have) can produce surprisinlgy good sound - in the multitrack recording world these days the essential technology is the same, what you pay for are special feaures, of which I know little when it comes to cams, though I don;t know if it is the same situation - would like to spend about $500 - will have to do a bit of on-line research -
  6. Chuck's right - hey, even I boinked Nico; fortunately I didn't wake up until she was satisfied - crazy Nazi babes - told me I either took care of business or went to the showers -
  7. truth is, the IAJE is like too many arts organizations (there's a few in Portland where I live) - just looking to administrate grants to get grants to get grants to get jobs to get themselves employed - no commitment to the art form, just to their friends - this happens over and over again -
  8. here comes the aero-dynamic speedo; hey, dumpy mama, stop undressing me with your eyes -
  9. I've always thought of the phrase "1950s British Rock" as being like "British food" - something of a misnomer - unless you have rock 'n chips -
  10. that was the bump - here's the grind -

  12. I'm trying to tell you guys, , the Gold Star recordings wipe all that other stuff out - it's Lightning near the beginning, electric and amazing -
  13. wondering if anybody has any ideas - cheap would be good - point and shoot with capability of good low-light shooting - broadcast quality - external mike? decent sound? format? easily editable (basic cut and paste editing)? did I mention cheap?

    George Butler

I actually met George Butler once, when I was running the New Haven jazz fest he was interested in a co-sponsorship. He was perfectly nice but obviously had not a clue about anything from music to finances - had a nice office, though, good view -

thanks Chris, I was getting worried there for a minute, but you've calmed me down - sorry, gotta go now, as they're playing Johnny Hammond Smith with Sonny Williams - wonder whatever happened to him -
  17. all seriousness aside, the biggest problem with jazz CDs is that, in order to keep the publishing and not have to pay Harry Fox, jazz people want to write all their own songs; most were not cut out to be serious composers (this, of course, from the guy who put out a 2 cd set with about 30 of his own compositions) -
  18. well, as Chico Marx said in some movie as he sat playing the piano: "Our first number is Number One."

Chris, you don't have a radio show any more? Than who the hell are these voices I keep hearing in my head?
  20. Lydia Kavina - here's her site - http://www.lydiakavina.com/
  21. interesting lady, but she's not the last theremin composer - there's an amazing russian Thermanist named Lydia something (can't remember her last name) who was up in Maine for a Theramin conference 5-6 years ago, who was an incredible composer and player - she even put out a cd - I'll see see if I can locate her full name -
  22. me too - sorry I'll have to turn you in to the RIAA -
  23. my favorite Lighting recordings are the Gold Stars, late 1940s, I think, released by Arhoolie - I was trying to write out one of his solos one day for a group piece I was doing and I gave up - thinking, 'jeez, this is like a Sonny Rollins solo' - rhythmically, I mean, and I think Lightning shows this side of himself best on his electric pieces -
  24. ever heard of dumpy mama?
