I don't know if this has been addressed, but how are the sources for the Decca era on these? Did they, hopefully, steal them from the right places?

Why do drummers pull sheet music out when a tune is called?
AllenLowe replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Musician's Forum
all seriousness aside; when I do sessions my music is usually somewhat irregular - meaning it has odd numbers of measures, different sections, irregularly constructed bridges, changes in tempo and time signature - so (almost) any good drummer will want to see the lead sheets - -

it's a actually a little bit like when you give your kid a plastic steering wheel for the back seat so he can pretend he's driving. -

I am actually going to do a little pre-order thing soon on the Bluiett; the project which is most likely to not come off is the Nels Cline, but only because he's so busy. Though I am going to do my best to make it happen.

actually, just did a little budget and if I can get these recorded and do some pre-sale, I might actually break even.

Charles changed his middle name to Borromeo sometime in the mid '50's. He composed over 110 pieces including several symphonies. One of his most famous was "Crazy Horse - Symphony No. 4". First performed by Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra 28 November, 1958; named in honor of Chief Crazy Horse, Sioux Indian hero. He was a self taught tenor recorder player, and pianist. He played many other woodwind instruments.. His favorite was the flute. Charles married a Miss Purra who was an accomplished fine artist. It is thought they did not have any children but that has not been proven. (Any information on her full name and dates would be appreciated.) Charles' says this about his parents: "...my parents being native Carolinians of English and Scotch-Irish lineage. Shortly after my birth, we moved to Spartanburg, South Carolina... As soon as America entered World War I my father volunteered in the infantry. We saw little of him after that, for he was wounded, shell-shocked and gassed, and spent the remaining years of his life after the Armistice in government hospital. My Mother and I lived alone, but we were not morbidly depressed." Source: "American Composers Today.. A Biographical and Critical Guide" Compiled and Edited by David EWEN pp 171, 172 Charles' Mother was Leila LAMBRIGHT d/o Jonas (Jones) James LAMBRIGHT and E. A. ALLEN LAMBRIGHT. Jonas was the s/o Benjamin George LAMBRIGHT and Frances Louisa FLOYD LAMBRIGHT of Union and Spartanburg Co., SC A sample of Charles Borromeo Mills' compositions are from the American Composers Association archives: See http://www.composers.com/cgi-bin/library.cgi for the entire list.

all listed have agreed and I'm only about $2000 short; one possibility is to put each of these out as an EP-type project and do advance sale. and yes, we are going for a Monty-Python, cross-dressed look.

he's amazing.

thanks; I am a little worried. Now it's mostly a matter of getting everyone in the right place at the right time.

summer and Fall recording projects (well, maybe in the next year): 1) 4 piece band - me, Matt Shipp, Kevin Ray and, yes, Ken Peplowski (who loves John Carter, btw) - 2) 5 piece band - me, Hammiet Bluiett, Ava Mendoza, and some players to be named later - (Mary Lou Williams project thing; my music, though) 3) me with Nels Cline; sort of a blue/gospel thing 4) a women's project - me, Carol Castellano, Ursula Oppens, Ava Mendoza, Stephanie Richards, Matsuki Miki 5) band with me, Kirk Knuffke, Curtis Hasselbring, plus rhythm; think Max Roach, 1959 6) band with me, Bobby Zankel, Lou Grassi, Lewis Porter, Paul Austerlitz, Ken Ray; Chris Meeder; Randy Sandke can it be done? Small loan, most of the music is already written; wanna get it done and then stop writing, as it's becoming something of an obsession -
