  1. Chuck, where were you 45 minutes ago??? Fortunately, I was able to figure that out (although I almost didn't) and order the original Atlantic set from Caiman through Amazon. Several Amazon Marketplace merchants still have brand new, unopened copies of the Atlantic set.
  2. Please let us know if you enjoy it. If you don’t like it, you can send me the invoice... ← Yes, I will hold you personally accountable.
  3. Thanks to Bentsy for bringing up this Paris Concert recording--and to everyone else who's commented on it. I just ordered it.
  4. Cannonball Adderley and the Poll-Winners. I have a lot of Cannonball and a lot of Wes Montgomery, so I'm looking forward to hearing them together.
  5. Django Reinhardt, discs 1 and 2:
  6. Yourmusic.com has it for $17.97.
  7. And instead of Kevin Bacon, Emilio Estevez, etc., we could assume the personas of our favorite Mayberry residents:
  8. Well, Lon, then you just need to buy enough Bertelsmann stock to get a controlling interest and make it happen.
  9. Happy Birthday, Jim! Thanks for all your hard work maintaining the Board. I hope I get to hear Organissimo in person real soon (when's that East Coast tour???).
  10. So why hasn't BMG released the first-decade stuff in a smaller box like the "Never No Lament" Blanton-Webster box? (mostly rhetorical question)
  11. Also, the Fantasy 20-bit K2's they carry typically come without the superfluous outer cardboard sleeve, and SOME of the Verve Master Editions come with a regular jewel case instead of the digipack. Personally, I wouldn't--and don't--give it a second thought (especially at $5.99 per CD), and can't understand why anyone would (perhaps in a misguided analogizing to the difference between, e.g., first edition books and book club editions?).
  12. That's how we vote in Philadelphia--sometimes even as many as 4 or 5 times.
  13. And you have that as the only selection in your queue for the next how many months???
  14. Cool! ← Double cool! That would be awesome!! ← I'd love to install it, but since I don't know French, I really don't understand that page or the installation instructions. ← C'est dommage.
  15. Number 3 (Black/Chrome)
  16. No, you're banned. ← Why the HELL did you do that???
  17. The chromes look classier, IMO.
  18. The Amazon payment system doesn't allow for that, so it's not the individual dealer's doing.
  19. That's why I don't give them more than the 2-business-day limit set by Amazon for shipment by Marketplace merchants. What I've found with Caiman, and some of the other Amazon Marketplace merchants, is that if they really have something in stock, they'll ship it within the 2 days (sometimes 3 days), whereas if they don't have it in stock (and they shouldn't list it if it's not in stock, but they obviously sometimes do anyway), it can take weeks or months. So when I order something from them, I email them if I haven't received a shipping notice within a couple of days, and if they can't say when it will ship, I cancel immediately. They usually process a refund through Amazon within 24 hours. You just have to realize up front that you may have to do that, and then you'll never wait more than a few days for shipment by these Marketplace merchants. As I indicated before, the vast majority of my many CD purchases from Caiman and other Amazon Marketplace merchants have been shipped within a couple of days.
  20. I just wish they'd use a single CD to put out those Buddy Bolden sides they've been sitting on, but noooooooooooo, Cuscuna insists on waiting until they've found enough sides to do a Select.
  21. What are you trying to do, my friend? ← He was trying to clone a human embryo, but the South Koreans beat him to it.
  22. Hey, if Marlon Brando could sing the lead in "Guys and Dolls," anything's possible.
  23. Plus there are so many other greats on "Blue Lights," and the music and sound are terrific. (and you get the cool Andy Warhol drawing on the cover )
  24. "Midnight Blue" is essential, and I also really like this 2-CD set: There's also this live date from the same period:
