15 years this coming September. To be precise, on 9/11.

The first season was consistent all the way through. All of the memorable episodes are from that season. The monsters were introduced in subsequent seasons when corporate interests tried to dumb it down. Well, if we're talking about the original 1960s series, there were only 2 seasons (1963-65), and the first season had lots of the classic Outer Limits monsters. Also, the second season had some interesting episodes with minimal monster factor: http://www.innermind.com/outerlimits/guides/ol01.txt

The Cleveland Orchestra is traditionally one of the "Big 5" American orchestras (along with Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston). Best of the best, and all that.
-
Plus, Allen is actually talking about the 32nd piano sonata by LVB, which DOES have a section that sounds just like boogie woogie.

That show used to scare the shit outa me: Of course, I was only 7 or 8 years old when it was first on. But I was attracted to it like a moth to a flame, and dug the eeriness of the music even at that age.

Cindy. Did what they told me, i contacted the seller, will wait for him. Yep, Cindy's usually very helpful--must be a new policy since they replaced my disc. I still think that as a matter of principle, they should replace defective discs that they produced, even if not purchased directly from them. Sony used to do that, but apparently has discontinued it. The way of the world, I guess. At least Mosaic still provides stellar customer service for products they did sell.
-
Well, so much for that. I guess they've tightened up their policy on the Selects. Out of curiosity, who signed the email?
-
But the Richards has, smart ass guy.

Sorry to be a bit late on this, but here's the rather extensive obituary that appeared in last Wednesday's Philadelphia Inquirer: http://www.philly.com/philly/obituaries/19309804.html
-
Just send them an email explaining the problem. They'll send out a new CD posthaste.

I had the same situation occur (defective CD in a Select purchased from a third-party seller), I contacted Mosaic directly, and they replaced it no questions asked. It is, after all, a manufacturing defect, and Mosaic stands behind its products (as we all know). Additionally, Mosaic widely distributes Selects for resale by other merchants, so it's not as if you acquired it in some unauthorized way from Mosaic's perspective. There is nothing unreasonable about asking a manufacturer to remedy a manufacturing defect. And don't feel like you have to order another item at the same time. Mosaic doesn't view this kind of high-quality customer service as an imposition, and neither should you.

That and the fact that the general consensus is that the Prestige K2's absolutely smoke the RVG's. Exactly! And I still say that many of the original OJC CD issues of the late '80s and the 90's (Prestige, Contemporary, or otherwise) continue to sound mighty fine, and are in no need of "upgrading" (e.g., Shelly Manne Black Hawk's--no need for a "Lester Koenig Collection" there).

Are you aware of this CD? Oh man, that sounds like just what I was looking for. That one's going on the must-get list. BMG and yourmusic.com have it, if that helps.

Great deal!! Bill Evans: The Last Waltz
Ron S replied to mikelz777's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
You were right about paying for the return but an 8-CD set was probably a bit too much not to be returned. Actually, the defective item they told me to keep WAS a box set--and with more discs than the "Last Waltz." But that was a while ago and may have been a unique situation, or they may have changed their policy since then. Come to think of it, on a more recent occasion involving a defective CD, they did send me a replacement along with a return label for a defective disc. In any event, they make the return pretty effortless, and send out the replacement before you have to send back the return. -

It's not on my copy, and I just listened attentively through headphones to the entire track. Contact Newbury Comics about it--they'll send you a whole new box set (and probably won't even make you return the defective box). Also, in my experience, defects like that are often not visible to the naked eye or on the surface of the disk. Thanks for checking on that for me Ron. I hope your optimistic scenario plays out, I'm anticipating the hassle of having to mail the set back and fear that it would have to be at my own expense. It's a drag having to deal with it but that particular disc is hinky and I'm not sure I want to let it go and live with it. The first time I played it it started skipping on the 2nd number. The second time I played it, it was fine with the exception of the very noticable drop-out which played both times. I'll have to contact Newbury and see what happens. Newbury will NEVER make you pay for the return of a defective disk or set. And, as I said, in my experience, they haven't even asked me to return a defective item--they've just sent me a replacement. -

ESCAPE FROM MAINE - where to go?
Ron S replied to AllenLowe's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Forget about the music thing. Allen, bring me a couple of live lobsters--3 pounders. And a couple of blueberry pies. Now THAT'S what Maine's all about. -
Wait--some people here think that Chuck is really KRUSTY???

You'd find a much more knowledgeable and enthusiastic audience for that kind of music in Philly. Just check out this thread: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=23111 -
Happy Birthday to one of this board's great natural resources (and you don't even cost over 120 bucks a barrel!).

Just saw this. Willow Grove, where Walt lived, is just a few miles from my house--I drive through it all the time, probably not far from his house (it's not that big of a town). I had always hoped that he might consent to perform somewhere in the area and I'd get to see him.
