  1. In case anyone missed out, Mosaic must have located more copies of the Mulligan CJB, 'cause it's now showing up in "Last Chance": Mosaic "Last Chance" Page
  2. If you compare the current-day Grammy held by Herbie with the decades-old ones in Chris' photo (especially the speaker bracket on the one on the right lying on its side), it seems that the current-day Grammy lacks the detail and craftsmanship of the older ones: Perhaps an apt metaphor?
  3. How much you want for that hacksaw?
  4. You should use this only if you have Michael play your wedding.
  5. If you want something classic, we chose "Love Is Here To Stay," and it seemed to work pretty well. If you're looking for a recording of it, there's a very nice--and danceable--version on Frank Sinatra's "Songs for Swingin' Lovers: http://www.amazon.com/Songs-Swingin-Lovers...7172&sr=1-1
  6. FWIW, there's a 4-year-old thread on this here.
  7. Newbury Comics customer service phone number: 617-779-5973. I've placed several recent orders with them, both through Amazon and directly through their site. Generally, the orders have shipped the same day or the next business day. For orders directly through their site, Newbury ships by first class or priority (for 13 ounces or over) mail, and not media mail. I can't remember whether they use first class for Amazon orders, but I believe they do. Most of the orders have taken a few days to arrive in Philly, but some have taken a bit longer (due to the Postal Service, and not Newbury).
  8. What's Lon doing to Becky Hodges, and why is she smiling?
  9. Apparently, this is as low as they're gonna go from now on (don't forget the discount codes--CMG3 and CMG4?--that give you an additional 10% off). I think they learned their lesson after the big '06 Blowout, in which they basically gave away (at 3 bucks a pop) brand-new OOP CDs that were going for ridiculous prices on Amazon Marketplace, etc. This time, they even priced the Limited Edition OJCs a bit higher than regular--albeit some already OOP--OJCs. Still, with the sale prices, plus the additional 10% off, plus the buy-9-get-1-free, plus the free shipping for orders of $50 or more, it works out to be a decent deal (around $8 give-or-take for regular OJCs), and a chance to pick up some OOP OJCs for reasonable prices.
  10. Don't forget to also check Newbury Comics' own web site: http://www.newburycomics.com/rel/v2_home.p...03&deptnr=1 Sometimes, the price for a particular item is significantly cheaper there than price Newbury lists on Ebay and/or Amazon.
  11. Becuase you've been possessed by the spirit of Howard Rumsey? 'Cept that at 90 years old, Howard's still with us. (Shit--hope I didn't just jinx him. )
  12. I've seen it, but not sure I can get it with my system, does it use Adobe, and if so which program of theirs does it require? I've had to down load their 8.1 or what ever to get in some files someone sent to me. If it takes speakers, a puppy chewed the wires to mine and I haven't replaced them. It isn't anything to do with sound is it? Doubt it would be, but there's so many new advances with these contraptions that it's hard to keep up. Let's experiment right now. Just click on "Live Chat" in the upper right and see what happens. No can do, I get a page of the most convoluted things to do. I have to get something to eat, so thanks I'll try it later and see if I can make sense of all of it, as it's telling me to stay current and keep up with advancements, which I hardly ever do unless necessity makes me do it. I have to tell my server this, tell my server to do that, that one function, Internet Explorer I believe, will be dead and gone in a bit, and on and on it goes. I'm off.... I think you were actually in there--at least it said you were in there when I went back to check. You must be talking about all the gibberish on the bottom half of the page under "Live Chat Help." If you see the chat window at the top of the page, you're in, and you can ignore that other stuff. To "say" something in the chat room, you just have to type in the yellow area where it says "Type here" and then hit enter.
  13. Looks like she and you and Chuck were in there while I was typing my last post.

Just click on "Live Chat" in the upper right and see what happens. Ooops, I guess you're already gone. To answer your guestions, it doesn't require speakers, and the only software it uses is Java, which you probably already have. The most common times for people to be in there are Friday and Saturday evenings, usually after 9PM or so Eastern time.

  16. (I think that's my favorite of all the new original smileys I've recently created for this Board.)
  17. Dare we tell our new friends about our ever-so-fun live chat room (since they didn't have one "over there")?
  18. You mean if we borrowed some of their smileys, there'd be a fight like this? How dare they! They'd have a lot of nerve, accusing us of using their smileys!
  19. You shut the hell up before we kick your ass outa here.
  20. I've been paying $20+ for many years now (5 or 6 times a year). Plus tip, of course. And trust me, my hair ain't nothin' special. Granted, I don't go to a men-only barber-pole-out-front kind of place, which probably explains the higher cost.
  21. In the Upper West Side?
  22. I think this order was in before Ron depleted BMG's stock. I think that's why my other orders haven't shipped yet. What can I say? My mouse fingers get twitchy sometimes, and I just can't seem to stop 'em.
  23. You're probably fairly safe, unless they start humming Sondheim tunes:
  24. Bev, any recent haircut photos to share? I've been waiting on those ever since the last ones you posted here shortly before you left a few years ago.
  25. The Horace Silver "Further Explorations" was one of the Spanish Blue Notes with the blue tinted cover photo. I couldn't find a picture of that version so I included a picture of the regular issue in my original post. Unfortunately, when I attempted to play the Silver CD, my player would not read it. I thought it was a problem with my player but I took the disc out and looked at it to discover two long scuff marks crossing over half the disc. It's unplayable. This was a brand-new, sealed disc! I didn't even bother to look at it before putting it in my player but I'm certain my player would not and did not make those marks. They had another copy there and I hope to exchange it tomorrow. Terrific sound on that Spanish Blue Note release, by the way--it's a Japanese remastering.
