Media's a very nice town. You're somewhere up near Horsham, iirc?

I think he's confusing it with that Dizzy DEAN baseball card he just bought on Ebay:

Typical of early '90's Fantasy mastering, IMHO.

They do send the big sets in numerical order. In fact, IIRC, it was Brad who posted a couple of years ago about correspondence he received from Mosaic in which it was explained that each large set is numbered consecutively by the computer when it is ordered, and that number is then hand-written in the booklet (and printed on the invoice) when the set is shipped. The correspondence further explained that the Selects are NOT sold/shipped in consecutive order (and indeed, the new ones are not individually numbered at all). Regarding the relatively high number of Brad's set, I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that part of the run of 10,000 goes (unnumbered) to Universal for it to distribute. Maybe Mosaic has decided to start its numbering after the number that goes to Universal (e.g., 5001) so that it doesn't appear that only a small portion of these sets have been sold? Just a thought. Of course, Brad could send another email to Mosaic for clarification, and then enlighten us all.

Couw has some made a booklet that is great for this purpose! Plus he's made them for some of the other box sets that some of us have as well! Couw's booklets The instructions on how to put together couw's trifold Coltrane booklet can be found here (it's similar to the Monk Riverside and Mingus Debut booklets). I've used his brochures for every applicable set I have--even the ones that came with the large booklets. They're much easier to use during listening than the large booklets, and make all session and album information incredibly easy to follow. And, FWIW, I print them out reduced to 91%, which makes them fit perfectly inside of each jewel case. I've said it before but I'll say it again: THANKS, JOHN!

What price do they show up as in your basket? IIRC, the price of the discs automatically changed when you had enough discs to change pricing tiers. I think that's right. And besides, if those two don't go down to $2.98 once you have 30 or more in your basket, you can always remove them from your basket. But chances are that if they no longer appear on the sale pages, they're out of stock. But then again, some titles have disappeared and reappeared several times during the sale, so you never know. If you only have 30 CDs in your basket including these two, don't worry about the effect of their possibly being out-of-stock on the other CD prices--you'll still get the rest for $2.98 each. Pretty complicated, isn't it?

Congratulations! Is that in Philly?

Flora is what you get when you combine Flurin with fora. Now you're going ad hominem and I only wanted a pretense to show you a pic of my dear friend Flora... No pretense needed for that!

Excuse me, Mr. I-Took-Latin-In-High-School.

I hope Conn doesn't see this, or he'll really get a big head.

My second (7/29) order shipped yesterday--everything except Monk's "Misterioso", "Plays Duke Ellington", and "Thelonious Himself", and Rollins' "Worktime".
-
It's on the way.
-
When did you place that order? Some of those are on my 7/29 order, about which I've heard nada.
-
A couple of weeks ago, I got the Complete Monk Prestige box--with K2 discs but sans booklet--from Zweitausendeins for something like 6 Euros (and couw has kindly prepared inserts for this box with all the discographical information). Don't know if it's still available, but it might be worth a look.

Johnny! A Homecoming! Looking forward to catching you at Tritone! And organissimo will be there later that week! When it rains, it pours.
-
My 7/24 order shipped today. Only Dolphy's "Outward Bound" and "Five Spot" were no-shows. Everything else shipped, including the Coltrane and Evans boxes and "Ugetsu". So it appears that even though some larger orders like mine are taking longer to fill, they are attempting to give earlier orders preference on low-stock CDs.
-
Well, all my bitching and moaning and whining and groaning notwithstanding , I received notice that my 7/24 order shipped today, and that everything shipped except for 2 Dolphy CDs. That means I got both the Coltrane AND the Evans boxes! I take back everything bad I said about Concord. Well, almost everything--it still took a hell of a long time (and there's still that 7/29 order).
-
When are those? I'd definitely like to see both.

Tal Farlow Mosaic set released in Europe?
Ron S replied to andersf's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
It's not on my European set, and I know there were others who said the same of their sets. -
To my ears, early '90's Fantasy CDs generally sound pretty damn great.
-
My Coltrane box is . . . well . . . ummmm . . . .

OK, time for Ron S. to call Jackson on Monday! Damn straight! My order #6100 was placed on July 24th! (Ooops, I'm on the road on Monday with the family. No calls to Jackson. )
