Everything posted by Ron S

  1. My 7/24 order shipped today. Only Dolphy's "Outward Bound" and "Five Spot" were no-shows. Everything else shipped, including the Coltrane and Evans boxes and "Ugetsu". So it appears that even though some larger orders like mine are taking longer to fill, they are attempting to give earlier orders preference on low-stock CDs.
  2. Well, all my bitching and moaning and whining and groaning notwithstanding , I received notice that my 7/24 order shipped today, and that everything shipped except for 2 Dolphy CDs. That means I got both the Coltrane AND the Evans boxes! I take back everything bad I said about Concord. Well, almost everything--it still took a hell of a long time (and there's still that 7/29 order).
  3. When are those? I'd definitely like to see both.
  4. It's now official: Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Chris' Jazz Cafe: organissimo!!! So to recap, organissimo in Philly: 10/4/06 Chris' Jazz Cafe 10/12/06 Tritone 1/19/07 Art After Five, Philadelphia Art Museum Stay tuned--hopefully more to follow.
  5. It's not on my European set, and I know there were others who said the same of their sets.
  6. To my ears, early '90's Fantasy CDs generally sound pretty damn great.
  7. My Coltrane box is . . . well . . . ummmm . . . .
  8. OK, time for Ron S. to call Jackson on Monday! Damn straight! My order #6100 was placed on July 24th! (Ooops, I'm on the road on Monday with the family. No calls to Jackson. )
  9. Check out Wes' "Complete Live in Paris" on Definitive. 2 discs of terrific live Wes, including some tracks with Johnny Griffin.
  10. Sounds good to me!
  11. Well, we're back to organissimo gig (singular) in October, for the moment. It turns out that the Blues Alley gig on October 11th was firmed up a few hours before I set up the Chris' gig, but somebody apparently forgot to tell me about it. However, I may be able to reschedule Chris' for October 4th, and I'm still working on other possibilities for October (and January). I'll keep you posted. For the moment, though, the firm organissimo Philly dates are October 12th at Tritone, and January 19th at Art After Five.
  12. This is probably one of the European sets that aren't directly from Mosaic, and aren't numbered. Still a good deal though! And still a Mosaic.
  13. I see in another thread that Lon's 7/23 order shipped today. Our Man Jackson told me this afternoon that there were a ton or orders on 7/24, and a bunch more on 7/25. So, I'm presuming, this may be where we start to see lots more titles disappear. (Not to cause a panic or anything. )
  14. Reminds of the old Gershwin lyric: "They say that Connnn-cord ships, But not for meeeeee."
  15. Per Fearless Leader: "Blues Alley is still not confirmed, so if something solid comes in for that date, book it." Aye aye, Captain!
  16. I just got off the phone with Pete Souders--been talking with him for months about a possible organissimo date in October. He just told me about the sale, but said he'll still be involved with booking. October won't work for organissimo, but Pete's very interested in Thursday, 1/18/07, the night before the Art After Five appearance. More on that in November. But meanwhile, I just confirmed: Wedenesday, October 11, 2006--organissimo at Chris' Jazz Cafe!!!! And there's still Thursday, October 12th, at Tritone. So 2 nights in a row of The Boys in October! (And possibly more--I'm still working on it.)
  17. I just spoke to someone at Concord, who said that they're now up to processing the 7/24 orders. Guess that means the my 7/24 order may actually be shipped by the end of August.
  18. 13, with maybe another 13 or so current and future ones on the wish list (whatever that means ).
  19. That's your problem--always getting into treble.
  20. You should do what he says--he's an expert in bogs.
  21. I've noticed this interesting spelling here off late in the Concord related threads. Is this a pun on the overview of the Concord people on what they have in stock, a case of good market placement by Wherehouse Records, or too much bad beer? In the case of some of us who ordered the Coltrane box but apparently will not get it, it is the "werehouse", as in, "there were some in the house, but now there aren't."
  22. Carpe diem, Dude!
  23. And in the case of many of them, for the present time. Four words: Shelly Manne Black Hawk.
