  1. Well, the Universal Mosaics are part of the same limited edition, they just aren't individually numbered. Tell you what: you send them to me, I'll scrawl an illegible number inside the booklet, and PRESTO, the value will be increased by 5%! And (to stay in a Latin vein), I'll even do it gratis.
  2. Flurin, only "Turn Out the Stars" and the Verve box appear to be OOP. "Last Waltz", "Consecration", and "Secret Sessions" are still in print. I was going to tell you about the sale price on the Concord site (although I don't think they ship overseas), but Matthew beat me to it.
  3. So, let's see . . . having an "MD" number on the box spine and a shipping clerk's scrawled number in the booklet is worth how much?
  4. When I first watched that video, I thought Gonsalves was trying to do some sort of weird Lester Young impersonation. No joke!
  5. Your right, it is Last Waltz, I was just copying off of Amazon, and for some reason, the have Last Waltz as Final Recordings part 2. My bad for not noticing that. Just don't let it happen again, or we'll have to send Jackson to your house to repossess that Coltrane Prestige box.
  6. Are you sure about Last Waltz and Consecration? It seems like they're available on most of the websites I've checked. I'd prefer to not have to spend the money right now, but I will if I "have to." Both are no longer on the Concord site (whether that means anything at this point, I don't know), as for me and my house, I plan on getting all the box sets by the end of the year. They're both still on the Concord site--under "Bill Evans TRIO" (and not just "Bill Evans"). By the way, what's "Consecration part II"? Unless you mean "The Last Waltz" part II, which is sorta what "Consecration" is.
  7. JACKSON FOR PRESIDENT (of Concord)!
  8. I saw the K2 version of "Consecration" today, but at $230, it seemed like a rip-off. I see that HMV Japan has a Japanese "Consecration" pressing for about $140. Is this the K2 set? Are all Japanese pressings K2 remastered? I thought that the JPN 'Consecration' K2 set was packaged in the white box.....but since Hans has it, he'll be able to clue us in. If memory serves, I'm pretty sure that Hans conducted an A/B comparison of the K2 and non-K2 versions of both the "Consecration" and "Last Waltz" boxes about a year ago, and concluded that he actually preferred the sound of the non-K2 versions (leading to his selling the K2 boxes). Of course, if I'm wrong, I hope Hans will correct me.
  9. You're talking about this set, right? Isn't it OOP?
  10. Wouldn't it be easier if we all just put our money in Nessa Records?
  11. Glad to hear that these warmups for Philly are going so well.
  12. But what if your job is planting trees?
  13. Are any of those titles actually rare? I don't know that I'd spend $66/cd for the likes of "Piano in the Background" or "Money Jungle". Just because we're such good friends, I'll sell you my copies for half that price.
  14. Even if the people dancing look like this?
  15. That alien looks like he's stoned.
  16. Especially after we pull a Keith Moon on his house. Hey Ron, do you prefer glue or nails to put furniture on the ceiling? Who said I have furniture?
  17. And each one has its own government, police department, etc. I once read somewhere that Pennsylvania, with its overly decentralized local governments, has more than 700 police departments, or some ridiculous number like that.
  18. Assuming that I'm not already.
  19. Another date just added to organissimo's Philly--er, um, I mean East Coast tour: Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 8:00 PM, at North By Northwest, 7165 Germantown Ave. One more recap of organissimo in Philly: Wednesday, 10/4/06--Chris' Jazz Cafe Tuesday, 10/10/06--North By Northwest Thursday, 10/12/06--Tritone Friday, 1/19/07--Art After Five, Philadelphia Art Museum Come to all of these and show your support (or else be kicked off the Board ).
  20. Media's a very nice town. You're somewhere up near Horsham, iirc?
  21. I think he's confusing it with that Dizzy DEAN baseball card he just bought on Ebay:
  22. Typical of early '90's Fantasy mastering, IMHO.
  23. They do send the big sets in numerical order. In fact, IIRC, it was Brad who posted a couple of years ago about correspondence he received from Mosaic in which it was explained that each large set is numbered consecutively by the computer when it is ordered, and that number is then hand-written in the booklet (and printed on the invoice) when the set is shipped. The correspondence further explained that the Selects are NOT sold/shipped in consecutive order (and indeed, the new ones are not individually numbered at all). Regarding the relatively high number of Brad's set, I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that part of the run of 10,000 goes (unnumbered) to Universal for it to distribute. Maybe Mosaic has decided to start its numbering after the number that goes to Universal (e.g., 5001) so that it doesn't appear that only a small portion of these sets have been sold? Just a thought. Of course, Brad could send another email to Mosaic for clarification, and then enlighten us all.
  24. Couw has some made a booklet that is great for this purpose! Plus he's made them for some of the other box sets that some of us have as well! Couw's booklets The instructions on how to put together couw's trifold Coltrane booklet can be found here (it's similar to the Monk Riverside and Mingus Debut booklets). I've used his brochures for every applicable set I have--even the ones that came with the large booklets. They're much easier to use during listening than the large booklets, and make all session and album information incredibly easy to follow. And, FWIW, I print them out reduced to 91%, which makes them fit perfectly inside of each jewel case. I've said it before but I'll say it again: THANKS, JOHN!
  25. What price do they show up as in your basket? IIRC, the price of the discs automatically changed when you had enough discs to change pricing tiers. I think that's right. And besides, if those two don't go down to $2.98 once you have 30 or more in your basket, you can always remove them from your basket. But chances are that if they no longer appear on the sale pages, they're out of stock. But then again, some titles have disappeared and reappeared several times during the sale, so you never know. If you only have 30 CDs in your basket including these two, don't worry about the effect of their possibly being out-of-stock on the other CD prices--you'll still get the rest for $2.98 each. Pretty complicated, isn't it?
