In the 80's when I had a radio show on WZRD in Chicago, this album got sooooo much play - especially the second album with the title cut - that, one day, somebody put a big hole in the middle of that second album because they were tired of people constantly playing it. If you wanted to hear/play it, you had to now bring your own copy with you. Still love it (and it still gets played on my show).

well, this hits hard - one of my favorite composers died today. Per Nørgård (1932-2025)

I have the occasional nightmare concerning the Cliffs of Moher. It was its regular cold and windy day there and I was wearing a long coat. While taking a photo, I accidentally stood on the bottom back of my coat. When I went to stand up from a crouching position, I lost my balance and instead of falling forward, I luckily fell backwards. Even the sometime thought of that moment gives me intense shivers.

Art Pepper Played With Love

I was going to post this last week, but wasn't sure if anyone would know who he was. Have always enjoyed his work. Early memories are from a score I have that the composer Jerry Hunt wrote for him that was too difficult for him to play ... another memory is from my time with Brave Combo and their shared love of playing accordions together on stage, and, recently, just a couple of weeks ago: helping out a comrade on our radio station who was having difficulties pronouncing his name every time she played something from him.

One wonders what he'd be composing now if he had lived past 52.

Oh, OK. Well, after putting them together in bits and pieces, I like listening to the full thing to hear how it flows. In this case, I'm just re-living Wednesday's show because the Festival just started about 40 minutes ago. At the beginning of this year, I started posting them - with audio - over on Substack (below) starting with show #444.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Sometimes, I'll do special shows for the community. This weekend is the Silver City Blues Fest, so this show is in celebration of that.
