  1. I didn't say that it has to be an anything-goes forum Dan. It can be only about playing baseball on Mars, if you like.
  2. For my 400th radio show, I've excerpted a half-hour from my very first show. The show was about Independence Day and has a couple of skits that are parodies on America's treatment of Native Americans. The first broadcast didn't raise any concerns, but it is now almost 8 years later - and people seem to bristle even more without a care or understanding of parody. How people will react to Firesign Theatre or Stan Freberg these days makes me wonder if there's room for parody anymore, but now it's potentially spilling into socio-politico areas that most of us aren't here to discuss.
  3. I know of two guys who are not savvy tech guys who left one music community and opened up their own "anything-goes" community using "Simple Machines Forum" - which is a free, easy-to-use forum creator. It would free things up for J.A. in that there wouldn't be this need for funding reminders. Simple Machines Forum A sample of a forum using this software:
  4. Yes, having the donations tab working would be a plus. I've given twice in the past year, yet it doesn't show so I can't tell if it's been received. I guess I'll look over at my Paypal history.
  5. I've used Chrome for many years - still do. I'm in Mac's "El Capitan" (10.11) and allmusic comes up just fine. It features, at the top of the page, an "in Memoriam" for Damo Suzuki. 😢
  6. While hearing aids can't reverse neural changes, they can help the brain better process the sounds that it does receive. The brain has a certain plasticity that can learn to interpret sounds more effectively with the help of hearing aids, thereby partially compensating for the changes in neural pathways. It doesn't necessarily "fill in" the missing audio, but actually, thru amplification, improves the brain's ability to process speech and other sounds, even if the neural pathways are not as efficient as they once were. The brain learns to interpret the amplified signals more effectively, which can improve comprehension and the ability to distinguish sounds in complex auditory environments.
  7. In what little info I’m seeing here (and again that it’s one side only), it appears that you may have been sent to a “memory care” facility rather than what you may have actually needed which was an “assisted living” facility. Anyway, just guessing, but take it easy and we’ll be here for you when you’re up to regular posting again.
  8. Sarah Davachi's "Feedback Studies for Percussion," a slow, intense interplay of piano and percussion, Kelley Sheehan's "Acoustic Sourings" with its custom devices creating static noise against piano strings, and Victoria Cheah's "Ocean Into Wire," a blend of electronic and acoustic sounds in a tumultuous yet harmonious dance.
  9. I don't know anything about this guy, but the selections are choice, strictly rockers!
  10. 😆 Is that what they're calling it these days...
  11. This is the closest I currently know of (I generally don’t follow these things).
  12. My understanding is that the re-recorded versions are still outselling the originals because her fans understood what her label did to her and re-bought (and, in many cases, streamed) those particular ones in huge numbers. The numbers on the streaming and purchases of the re-releases are pretty staggering - with something like a near 50% drop in sales on the originals. I've read that the big guns are overhauling contracts on new "talent" by putting in clauses that state that they have to wait anywhere from 10 to 30 years before they can re-record any of their releases. here ya go...
