  1. Very interesting. Thanks Tony
  2. I haven't heard the Scott CDs, but I'm convinced the 24-bit remastered Japanese mini-LP sleeve reissues (many CDs in this series have fold-out sleeves) sound much, much better than their U.S. counterparts. Red Trumpet has them, but they're pretty expensive. They're also listed on the HMV Japan site: Latin Shadows and On a Clear Day, so they're still available. Why don't you ask Hiroshi Tanno if he can supply them: hiroshi@earlyrecords.com - his prices are slightly higher than HMV's (2345 yen or approximately $20, plus shipping), but his shipping rates are much lower.

  4. You won't find it, unless the population want you to...
  5. Excellent decision
  6. Great. Very clear and transparent, yet a bit more aggressive than the earlier, also great but mellower Japanese 20-bit K2 remastered Victor Impulse! reissues.
  7. Thanks Kazak
  8. It probably lurks in his archive somewhere. Wish I could take a peek...
  9. David, I have asked Hiroshi Tanno if he can help. I'll let you know.
  10. You can also use HMV Japan's search box; select "by cat.no.", type "UCCI9" and GO Unfortunately, deleted items such as John Coltrane's Ballads (UCCI-9001) and A Love Supreme (UCCI-9002) are no longer listed.
  11. Yes, and I wonder why. This was discussed on the "old board". I don't remember exactly what was said, but it might be a language problem.
  12. Yep, but the seller doesn't ship outside Germany (as is so often the case with eBay Germany auctions). By the way, the "Buy It Now" price ("Sofort kaufen") is €74.99 or $81 at today's exchange rate.
  13. Zuma has been available on CD since 1990.
  14. This Is Our Music - remastered reissue, sounds great English remastered version of Change of the Century - don't know how it sounds, though.
  15. After I had e-mailed Parallactic's Brandon Evans again a few days ago I got a full refund
  16. Weizen's back and posting - occasionally
  17. EDT + 13 hours, so it's 2:39 AM on Sunday there now. Time zones
  18. James Spaulding plays a lot of flute on this album, but if you don't mind that (I'm not a fan), grab it. Joe Chambers is great.
  19. I didn't know Parallactic's pressing plant was located in Tikrit. Well, their CDs are just as elusive as Saddam...
  20. Still nothing. Hmmm... This is not looking good... See also the last few posts in this thread over on AAJ.
  21. Not quite - today's exchange rate: €1 = $1.08 / $1 = €0.93, and the dollar is rising fast against the euro.
  22. That's funny, this was my reaction: I don't like many (OK, most) of RVG's remasters - I'm told his hearing is deteriorating badly - I wondered if his alleged hearing loss could have something to do with the sonic qualities of his remasters - if so, that could explain the (at least to my ears) exaggerated highs. I never thought his remastering to be fundamentally wrong, though (I know, you never said I did ); it's just not my cup of tea. As for your second point, I think you're right, much popular music does have the same sonic qualities (to my horror, but that's my problem), such as many recent Sony jazz reissues, and, since they're probably aimed at the current market, it seems much more likely to me too that that's exactly how Blue Note want their reissues to sound (or they would undoubtedly have told Rudy otherwise). I've discussed this "privately" with a few other board members, and they agreed that this might be the case.
