  2. This is the complete list: Various - Walk Right In* Various - The First Time I Met the Blues* Various - That's Chicago's South Side* Various - That's All Right* Leadbelly - Take This Hammer Various - Poor Man's Heaven Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup - Rock Me Mama Sonny Boy Williamson - Blue Bird Blues Blind Willie McTell - Statesboro Blues *These are included in the 4CD-set.
  3. When The Sun Goes Down - The Secret History of Rock 'n' Roll, Vol.9: Blind Willie McTell - Statesboro Blues - RCA This is one of the best discs in this wonderful RCA series. It features Blind Willie McTell's great songs and a few songs with others (which I don't like that much to be honest) from his Victor years (1927-1932) in beautiful sound. The shellac disc transfers were done by John R.T. Davies, the metal part transfers, audio restoration and CD mastering by Doug Pomeroy. Highly recommended for the McTell solo songs! VAN THE MAN

No need to apologize! You can post as many Van Morrison threads as you like, of course

    VAN THE MAN

Here's another Van Morrison Blue Note CD thread on this board.
  6. I second that, it's a great album, one of Dorham's best IMO. I like the sombre mood very much, and, like you said, the playing is excellent.
  7. I forwarded them all to spoof@ebay.com, without opening the links.
  8. I keep getting spoof eBay e-mails, about three or four a week. Already got two today...
  9. Happy birthday!
  10. Bev, Check out this post by B3-er
  11. ...And here's the AMG review
  12. Quite.
  13. I still listen to them B)
  14. Bluenoter, I couldn't agree with you more. Such things as the "Babe Thread" were an embarrassment to me at the old Blue Note board, and it remains as much here. I see no useful purpose to the thread, and it's not like you can't find naked or partially clothed women on the internet if that's what you want. You'd think by now people would understand the meaning of the terms "hostile environment" and such, but when forced with the idea of giving up their toys, some still just respond with the kneejerk cries of "PC" and refuse to budge. Well put, I fully agree.
  15. Yep, about three hours ago.
  16. CDUniverse methods of payment
  17. Haven't played this for a while (there's still an enormous pile of unplayed discs on the floor of my living room...), but I was very impressed when I first heard it. A great disc and, IMO, a much, much better album than Raining on the Moon, which I didn't like at all - sold that one right away.
  18. For overseas orders, it's $6.99 for the first disc and $1.50 for each additional disc.
  19. I just heard on the news that Johnny Cash has died. I don't have any details.
  20. This is very sad news, and very bad for democracy and freedom. Let's hope they'll get the lunatic soon.
  21. There's already a thread about these, including a link to Mosaic.
  22. For those who don't want or can't afford the complete 10CD Verve box, this 3CD-set might be a good alternative. Street date is October 21, and it can be pre-ordered now from CDUniverse for $34.99.
  23. I sent three PMs today and everything seems to be fine.
  24. Sold most of them, still have about 10 (early Monks, Powells, Blakeys)
  25. I don't like jam sessions and blowing dates - well, I don't like most blowing dates. I agree with Templejazz's remark in his Coltrane Prestige thread, they're often too drawn out and rambling; to my ears musicians sometimes sound ill-matched, and most of the time I find sessions like these not very interesting.
