  3. I agree; to my ears most Toshiba releases since 2000 that I've heard sounded increasingly horrible, LOUD and harsh. Sadly true, but they are at least clear at lower volumes. Not many of these titles are new to CD... Harshness and the loss of dynamics are not undone by lower volumes.

  6. A Story Tale was reissued in full on Clifford Jordan's Mosaic, which is an official release on Milestone, owned by Fantasy at the time; it also has Jordan's album Starting Time. Amazon U.K. Amazon U.S. Thanks Hans. I have that CD but had forgotten that "A Story Tale" was included on it. So...I guess I bought the double Fresh Sound CD for just the ONE album. Ah well....... Any idea what the source for Breezin', the first album on CD1 of the Sonny Red set, could have been? Fantasy never reissued that one on CD, nor did Concord.

  10. That's Echoes of Indiana Avenue and there's already a thread about it here.
  11. ...and sources that are inferior, such as MP3. It's a disgrace they're asking that kind of money for stuff like that.
  12. There must be some hidden message in there that only pepsi drinkers can see...
  13. How did I know you'd be sitting there waiting to jump on the one person you thought you baited? But before you get too happy, you should ask yourself: who baited who? Shouldn't that be "who baited whom"? I could easily be wrong, of course, I'm just a simple guy whose first language isn't English, wondering if the phrase "a full-growed man" I saw in another thread earlier today is an example of an ever-evolving language
  14. All I'm doing is trying to clean up the garbage that other people have dropped in the streets of Organissimo, and obviously I'm wasting my time trying to do it. If make a mistake, maybe you should go get yourself a new garbage collector or just stroll through the garbage-littered landscape while keeping your nose pinned and your mouth shut. A thankless (but necessary) job that few people want to do. Tell me about it. You should have seen the nasty messages I got when I was still a moderator. I even got a few after I had resigned. Very nice. Larry is doing a great job as far as I'm concerned.

  16. Note that the Analogue Productions impulse! hybrid SACDs were mastered by Kevin Gray, Hoffman had nothing to do with them - let me make clear that Lon didn't say that Hoffman mastered them, but some people seem to think they're his masterings. To my ears Gray has a different mastering style, which I generally prefer to Hoffman's. I've heard the CD-layers of some of them and they sounded excellent to me; I've not heard A Love Supreme, though - it's far from my favourite John Coltrane album.
  17. Is this the subtle sentance, you're referring to? Whether this music has been out before on CD or whatever, I DON'T have it, so I'm excited. I havent been around as long as most on the forum (27 yrs old), so most of this music is new to me. It's also nice to have this music in one great package, sarcastic remarks or not.
  18. OK, so I'm dumb, not getting his point. Nice to know. I'll not respond to his posts from now on, some of which are far too "subtle" for me anyway.
  19. Mosaic couldn't get permission to issue those 1951-1955 Johnny Hodges Verve sides on CD. Hopefully Universal imprint Hip-O will issue them on CD, like they did with the 1952-1954 Stan Getz Norgran/Clef/Verve sessions; don't hold your breath, though, especially since they've already been released by one of Europe's public-domain labels.
  20. See my post above yours: no Henderson set.
  21. Just heard back from Scott. He said that "the Hawk set had somewhat to do why the Henderson was abandoned." He also said that they just had other projects that trumped the Henderson and they did have a bunch of Henderson on the Chu Berry set as well. So, no Henderson set in the foreseeable future.
  22. I checked and, as Lon said, the Mosaic policy not to reissue material they've issued before is limited to Mosaic sets that are OOP. Sorry for the misinformation.
  23. Well, I have asked Scott about a Henderson set. I'll report back when I hear from him. I checked and they have indeed duplicated material before so to speak, so that policy (which I was told did exist) seems to be flexible.
  24. That may be so, but fact is that they abandoned a Henderson set when they decided to go ahead with the Hawkins box. I have no idea whether they will reconsider or not, but if they do, it won't be any time soon.
