All I can say is thank god for re-issues because the new releases ought to include an apology program. Buy four or more new releases from Blue Note and redeem your proof of purchase for an official and personalized apology for completely missing the mark, losing sight of both pop culture and the progress of jazz. Kind of like that Conn watch deal back in the 90s.

I'd really like to hear a duet with Ambarchi and Rowe. Maybe add Tilbury in there as well. I am very new to this music, including AMM, and am fascinated with some, and left shrugging about the rest. Very difficult music to come by as well. You think your local jazz selection sucks? Try finding some of these! Big Wheel, can you post a link to your radio station? I'd like to tune in for the Erstwhile show. Thanks guys!

Signal To Noise | issue 32 | winter 2004 Bill Meyer chose 7 like-minded artists to feature in this quarter's edition and I'm interested in hearing most of these. I've read a lot of good hype about a number of the picks listed below. For those of you familiar with the artists or the recordings, what do you have to say? Oren Ambarchi .:. Triste | idea 2003 LP Oren Ambarchi/Johan Berthling .:. My Days Are Darker Than Your Nights | Hapna H.10 CD Oren Ambarchi/Günther Müller/Voice Crack .:. s/t | Audiosphere AS 06 CD Keith Rowe .:. 29 October 2001 | Sound 323 [2] 3" CD Oren Ambarchi/Robbie Avenaim/Keith Rowe + Sachiko M & Otomo Yoshihide .:. Thumb | Grob 432 CD Keith Rowe/Thomas Lehn/Marcus Schmickler .:. Run Rabbit | Erstwhile 027 CD Keith Rowe/John Tilbury .:. Duos For Doris | Erstwhile 030-2 2xCD I'd think the Australians are happy to see Oren Ambarchi listed 4 separate times on a list of 7!

How will iTunes affect OOP releases?
.:.impossible replied to Brandon Burke's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Independent Rock labels are currently (or is it already complete?) working on a deal with iTunes to make available to the public what most megastores refuse to carry, or what is already out of print. Blue Note is still trying to figure out how to remove opt-out email addresses from their database. Unfortunately, I do not think they will be catching up any time soon. I'd love to see it though! They have licensed a few album covers to ropeadope for t-shirts... btw, this is my first time online with a wireless card! so sweet! -
I'm confused.

I will be sure to post here once I've had a chance to listen!

"jazz. . . expressing religious emotions."
.:.impossible replied to jazzbo's topic in Miscellaneous Music
I think when I first started listening to jazz music, it felt like I had found a physical manifestation of a spirituality that I was unable to obtain elsewhere. I also realize that jazz music envelopes the spectrum of emotion, sometimes implying the most unethical of men. Not all jazz is spiritual. -
"Is Blue Note striking off key?"

It would be funny to find out that Rooster was Jeremy Pelt after so heavily endorsing his work! -
"Is Blue Note striking off key?"

So I guess this Jacky Terrason character is being dropped... I'd love to see Blue Note use their mega-series to push their jazz as well. For those of you who own the megas, are they including inserts advertising other releases? I'd like to hear Jeremy Pelt (Rooster?) record on Blue Note. BN needs to go out there and offer people deals RIGHT NOW. Organissimo included. B) -
Holy SHIT! I had no idea boy bands were such an international phenomenon.

I've generally been disappointed with Dave Douglas' albums. Especially when listening to them after a MASADA disc. I wish he'd play with that fire on his own dates.
-
BTW, I would love to see this on CD. This really sounds like my kind of music!

Sounds a lot like one of my important realizations on acid in college. I was trying to explain to everyone in the room how there is everything we, as a civilization, know, then there's everything else. Sounds simple now, but there were a lot of blank faces in the room and it was a deep realization at the time! Earlier that day I heard sounds that sounded like car horns, and birds. I later realized they were car horns, and birds.

How long has the BNBB been closed?

THAT is funny. -
?Que? Under NFL rules, teams looking for a head coach must basically interview at least one black candidate. They risk a fine otherwise. Oh. I didn't realize that. That seems odd. My father-in-law plays golf with Joe Gibbs on occassion. He is also a good friend and golfing partner of Marty Shottenheimer as well. Both have resided north of Charlotte for a few years now. I've never met either of them, but he speaks highly of both. What that says about their coaching abilities? Nothing really. What this adds to the thread? Nothing really. That interview rule is strange to me.

Congratulations Johnny. I enjoyed reading about you all through Al Jones. Keep up the hard work.

NASA Rover Touches Down on Mars
.:.impossible replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
The way the Mars surface has reacted to the rover's impact is so strange! It looks sort of like clay or thick mud, but there is a serious lack of humidity in the atmosphere, so it must be a gravitational effect. I don't know, but I stop what I'm doing whenever they throw this sh... up on the tv screen. When do you think the Mars people will emerge from their underground civilization to greet/comandeer the rover? -
I'm thinking the same thing Chris. I'm still holding out on an iPod, though I would LOVE to have one. I'm interested in the ipodsdirtylittlesecret though. I was just kidding about being excited about a portable hard drive with both usb and firewire ports. I'm not that geeky!
-
I am told, by a Windows user who just got a new iPod for xmas, that they are now equipped with both firewire and usb. I haven't seen it yet though. Exciting rumor though, no?

Price point has a more strategic connotation for me. A company determines how it wants to introduce a new product or service and many things are factored into this before taking it to market. Price point is sort of a "manufacturer's suggested retail price." The price tag may be very different at the retail level. iPod, because it is an Apple product, has a very fixed cost. You will have a hard time finding a new Apple product at much of a discount. If anyone knows where to find Apple products at a good discount though, hook me up!

Thanks for the good word guys. I don't have much from the West Coast, so this will be a nice introduction I assume. Next time I come across a Terry Gibbs Dream Band disc, its mine.
