Nowhere better to listen to these two than on a drive. What a vibe. -
Hombres! I heard a live male vocal version of this in a Mexican restaurant a few weeks back. Can't find it, but this is closest with brass band. Sounds like the same arrangement. Listen to Y Sigues Siendo Tu Yesenia La Gitana

I chose Mantle because of his affiliation with Marilyn Monroe, but yeah. Bob Marley, Groucho Marx, Lassie. -

The funkiest smelling instrument I have ever been around. Something about the plastic that Ampeg used. The man who designed this instrument also invented an amplifying pickup rail for vibraphone. I believe his name was Oliver. I corresponded by email with him a while back. I'll have to dig through archives. He has since passed away. I want to say Jess Oliver.

Joan Rivers - Don't Start With Me (Showtime)

She seemed to have found her legs for one last lap this past year. I heard her on the radio a few times with other comedians, who really seemed to get what she has been trying to do all this time, and she was in her element. Interesting comment about the violence. In that metaphor, at her best, she was ultra- and brutally so. She could really hurt your feelings. She was no joke. -
Woman reviews her husband's "stupid record collection"

I was cited for manufacturing outrage here a couple of weeks ago. I think that's what's happening here. There is no outrage. In fact, there is very little emotion at all. No one here has any skin in the game and there really is no reason whatsoever to take sides. It's a goofy blog. It is meant as such, as earnest as it may be, and we are goofing on it. Cue ponytail. vvvvvvvvvvvv -
No issues here with discogs. I've found honest folks, but I'm not buying anything that can't be bought for more than the cost of a case of beer. I've made plenty of late night impulse purchases... though it's been a while since I've purchased anything.

I'd rather read "Clem reviews 'the collection of the guy to whom this girl is married." Everybody drinks each time the word "insipid" is used! Let's make it fun. -
Death of the iPod (Everyone's buying vinyl)
.:.impossible replied to A Lark Ascending's topic in Audio Talk
Recurring charges. Constant revenue. Two of the reasons that I believe motivate decisions to discontinue products that don't require IP addresses. Doesn't really matter what I think, but I can understand why people are uncomfortable with the shape of things. -

There is no outrage. I'm trying to help you understand why the people here who have expressed an interest in owning and carrying multiple classic iPods, as opposed to an iphone with iCloud and spotify accounts, prefer their methods. Some folks do not want to own a cell phone. Others own a cell phone, but do not want a data plan. Then there are those who just want to do things their way. -

The best things in life are few. https://www.apple.com/icloud/ And I'm not just referring to iCloud. Spotify and other subscriptions require recurring monthly payment, along with constant data transfer courtesy of megaton telecom. But yay for progress. Spotify is also free if you don't mind the commercial breaks and lower streaming bitrate. At the end of the day if you want something better than the free service offered, then you have to pay. I'm not sure why that is so outrageous. This requires a data plan with your telecom provider. Is the free version available for mobile devices? -

Exactly. Putting all of your music files on their iCloud makes your entire digital collection accessible at all times if connected to a cell or wifi network. There are recurring costs associated with this, and that is why we are being pushed in this direction. -

My brother spent a couple of days with Barre this past Spring. By his account, a wise master.
