  1. what are you, like 12?
  2. Well said, David. I met him at J&R. He came off as a common thug --- sort of like the "jazz mafioso".
  3. D'ya think we could stop already with the mindless criticism of a musician who happened to say one "bad" thing? All that should really matter is that Corea's given much to the music that we all enjoy so much. He still performs at a VERY high level for a spry old man aged 70! Methinks this has more to do with some automatic ridicule for his beliefs. As far as I know, we still do have religious freedom in the US.
  4. For years, he has pushed an ideology and a way of life (on a fairly high level, mind you), to impressionable young men which consistently produces BAD and UNACCEPTABLE human behavior in a civilized society. He got what he deserved; it should have happened a long time ago.
  5. Still wondering --- what's the beef against "this cat"?
  6. Paterno has announced that he is retiring at the end of this year in order to "make it easy on the University". In the words of another Long Island blowhard (Mike Francesca) "this is just Joe being all about Joe. If he wanted to make it easy on them, he would have RESIGNED effective today". I can't say that I disagree.
  7. I'd say these releases are the most up-to-date sounding versions of these issues. I know that the Woody Shaw box made me fall in love with Woody all over again --- it sounds THAT good. Are you considering the Brubeck box, Lon?
  8. It's blind speculation like Madden's which perpetuates the myth a reporter of sexual abuse is somehow a part of the crime itself. Asking questions like that is sheer foolishness and could be asked of anyone about anything in order to create "guilt" where none exists. C'mon, PhillyQ...who's the criminal here? Sandusky or Paterno? Glad to. My feeling is if a person has never had to report a crime of child abuse based upon an allegation, they have no idea how much is at stake or what the emotional cost is to the reporting individual. I wholeheartedly believe that Madden raises a very valid point --- that big money college athletics is as much to blame for the crimes and covering up of those crimes that are committed by the scum it produces as the scum itself. Why is this so difficult to understand??? How can one possibly idolize the morons who populate professional sports with a clear conscience???
  9. Who is QUEEG?
  10. Yeah, and still no Cleveland show. I wonder if it's still on the table.
  11. The title says it all. The Brubeck covers Columbia quartet material from 1955-1966. Mahavishnu is Complete Columbia plus an extra disc of live material taken from Central Park, NYC. The Weather Report is Complete Jaco years 1976-1982.
  12. Thank you. It's good to know that we're not all brain dead here. Our dear Mr. Mature cannot see the forest through the trees when it involves his professional baseball players, but nitpicks about inconsequential points of fact when it comes to this scandal. All is ok as long as he's winning World Series'. Let me tell a story if I may. My younger sister attended U of MD with a certain blowhard quarterback from Long Island by the name of Norman Esiason. This idiot was granted godlike status around campus. He hit on and forced himself upon women more often than he changed his underwear. He came on rather strongly with my sister. She turned him down. He couldn't believe that someone would dare to do this. She ended up communicating to him that if he continued to harass her, she would proceed to cut his little dick off with a pair of tweezers. Everyone knew that this guy was an asshole of the highest order -- sort of like the model used by a certain QB of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Anyway, cut forward a few years and little Norman gets married and has a kid with cystic fibrosis. Since he now suffers a personal setback, he starts a foundation, and is now seen as a saint. See how everything works out in the end??? Hypocrisy at its finest. If this is not the bigger issue here (of which the Penn State quagmire is an unfortunate extension), I don't know what is.
  13. OK. The problem is he did what was legally demanded of him. He has no authority beyond that. Besides, we don't know he if did not speak to the offender. Stll, any repercussions are not within his control. Know hypocrisy when you see it, please. Your arguments are falling on deaf ears. Doesn't Mr. Gould realize that a lot of the beer-swilling Red Sox players he worships clearly come from the machismo, anything goes environment and culture that has pervaded our high school and college campuses for decades? Can anyone translate this for me? No? I didn't think so. Why can't you? Did you attend UConn? More random idiotic blatherings. Do you enlist your dog to pound on the keyboard before you click submit? The reason you cannot understand what I said is that you are too focused on the inane details of who did what and why (as evidenced in your response to Good Speak) instead of on the bigger picture -- college athletic programs are corrupt and have always been so. I was pointing out the hyprocrisy in your forgiving the sins carried out by members of your beloved Red Sox as evidenced by your numerous temper tantrums.

  15. Take a look. Mike McQueary IS a big guy, and should have been able to give Sandusky a run for his money: http://www.gopsusports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/mcqueary_mike00.html

  17. Yes, I've been dragged to Beaver Stadium many a time!
  18. As a New Yawka myself, my take is that Paterno in New York is merely ordinary. Within the safe confines of backwoods PA, he is a God. Bring him back down to earth, I say.
  19. Thank you, Mr. Kart. This is the point I've been trying to make. You've taken a more direct approach.
  20. This one's killer: http://allmusic.com/album/only-human-r205634
  21. When it comes to me, you can only guess. With you, however, one can see your vileness coming from a mile away. You are as predictable as you are transparent.
  22. I have knowledge (and associated common sense) of the overall vile tendencies of athletic programs that have existed in America's universities since the beginning. I did NOT mean that I had prior knowledge of this particular scandal. Naivete is no excuse for ignorance.
  23. I'm perplexed as to how/why this could possibly amaze anyone. I mean, it's like a huge freight train a-comin'. You should be able to see it from a mile away.
  24. Jon, can you clarify - amazon says they have none in stock right now. Do you mean you just sent them some and they should have it in stock soon? Guy Try CD U. They claim to have it in stock. I've used them for nearly a decade, and in my mind, they have been way more reliable than Amazon. If you want to verify with a live person, call (800) 231-7937, option 1.
