As usual, Jim, your reasoning is seriously convoluted, and seriously faux "streetwise". Climb off it and man up already!

Ooh! Ooh! I hope it's me. I hope it's me. If you've lurked or posted around here long enough, you'd be sure of who I was talking about.

Yes, I agree as well. What I was pointing out is that some of the people getting so enflamed about this issue are the ones who have gladly accepted burns of needledrops and pressed cds without paying money for them. As such, the artists STILL are not being compensated for their work under either scenario. As a lawyer, I'd expect that you would fully understand the degree of this hypocrisy. I'm not making judgments here. Just saying to those same people: Quit while you're ahead, and be smart and know when to STFU!!!
  4. Would you happen to know what date this is good until? Thank you. Novmber 1st. Sorry I neglected to mention. Where do you find CD Universe codes?
  5. I don't know about the flags having question marks on them, that seems a little silly, but...this whole thing...at some point you just gotta sit back, say a heartfelt "thank you" to whatever and whoever you say such things to, and then just watch it all play out. Interesting, but, to paraphrase Wash, championships are NOT about identifying which team is best in some abstract (or statistical) sense. Championships are about determining who wins, and wins when it really, really, really matters. For every Finley-era Oakland A's or Torre-led Yankees, there's an '88 Dodgers, or '86 Mets, or '60 Pirates, or 2010 Giants... in fact, there might be even more of the latter than the former. The '86 Mets do not belong in that group; they were not a Cinderella team. They kicked ass and took no prisoners all season long until a lame pitcher who cut his fastball and drugs nearly got in their way.

Hey Silky, does your board software translate the posts into a different language than they're written in, or what? And who are these "most active traders", anyway? I wasn't born yesterday, and I wasn't necessarily speaking about you. Are you having guilt pangs? Don't get all slick just because your Nolan Ryans are up 3-2. The last one is always the most difficult to win.

Irony: Some of the most active music traders on this board are taking a blatant "holier than thou" stance with regard to the whole "paying the dead musician's estate" debate. See the resident dick's (you KNOW who you are) post above.

Interested to know what the source of your Reminiscin' CD is - Japanese? - wasn't aware that this has had a previous digital release It hasn't. Does anyone else get the irony?
  9. I know you're going out of your play to play nice, Allen. But giving pat answers like a cardboard cutout of a talking head is just plain wrong! This is a discussion forum after all.
  10. You don't understand poseur or lack of chops? Zorn wouldn't know a change if it came up and slapped him in the ass!
  11. Makes for a nice contrast, though.
  12. Further proof that, if not for God-given athletic talent, most professional athletes would be flippin' burgers at Mickey D's! Even more reason to have that good-ole nationalistic pride.
  13. Please allow me to take a page from the depths of anality that exist on the Hoffman board, and point out the obvious. Carefully open the plastic wrap around the set at the seams, and once you're finished listening to it, store it back inside the plastic wrap. The booklet has no place to fall out. Problem solved!

I can't speak about these ones specifically, though most of the time the Avid releases try not to split albums across CDs. On the other hand, the Felsted Mainstream collection box set (9 albums on 5 CDs) has several of these splits, so I'm going to have to do some ripping and reprogramming. Fresh Sound just released a version of this box with each of the 9 albums given its own individual disc. http://www.freshsoundrecords.com/the_complete_stanley_dance_felsted_mainstream_jazz_recordings_1958-1959_9-cd_box_set-cd-5596.html
  15. My spare is gone.
  16. He's as much a world celebrity as you are!
  17. There are several musicians who started out "downtown" who have transcended that scene. Dave Douglas and Joey Baron are just a couple of excellent ones I can name off the top of my head. There are others. Zorn lives and breathes down there. He will never go beyond that world. He doesn't have the chops to. Sure, his knowledge of and respect for the history of the music is fine enough, but he remains trapped in his own little world. Therefore, the concept of masterpiece cannot possibly apply to him.
  18. Still nobody who will come out and say what they really mean about this guy?
  19. Not that I have any, but my new favorite is the one that helped catch the cheating wife!
  20. Good score for an amazing document!
  21. Btw, in a fit of confusion (it's happening more these days), I ordered 2 from different suppliers AND received both copies. Second copy is still sealed. If anyone in the US missed out and needs a copy, please PM me. Cost is what I paid for it ($16.99) plus cost of shipping method of your choice. Otherwise it goes back.
  22. C'mon Chuck. Don't be shy. You were there at the onset.
  23. Sometimes poseur, sometimes not. Always difficult to tell if he's yanking our chains or not!
  24. Received this yesterday, and immediately listened to it twice through. This is amazing music done in great sound and with great care and respect. Thanks, Mr. Horwich! You are slowly but surely setting the bar for how reissues should be presented, but unfortunately never will by those who hold the lion's share of valuable music recordings.
