Their reply to my email: ...thank you for your email. They are slow, but are the only game in town for most of these sets. So you've just gotta deal.
-
They are not new releases. Dusty has carried these titles intermittently for at least a few years.

Do you have enough hair to play the comb?

Shortly after United Archives released that 10 cd set, they also released a 4 cd set spanning 1956/7. It would seem that this new 13 cd set is a straight combination of the two prior sets which allowed them to reduce the total number of cd's by one. Yes, this is worth $45 - $50!!! (works out to less than $4/disc) But don't go by me --- for me, Miles is IT.

Elin Nordegren Demolishes $12 Million Mansion

This is NOT the reason she is still in Florida!!! In a divorce situation, one parent CANNOT arbitrarily move the children away from the other parent. If Tiger had a lawyer worth his/her salt (and you know he did), this type of stipulation was written into his settlement agreement, especially since his ex is a native of another country. -
I emailed them on this issue and was told that the contents are "the original albums" so no need for track listings. I explained that there have been many reissues over the years and some have bonus tracks and some do not, and that it would be useful to have all the tracks listed in one place, but it fell on deaf ears. From my experience, all of the customer service reps employed there are robots who know nothing about the music. Unfortunately, this seems to be today's gold standard for customer service representation.

Do you really wonder? Everything on Long Island is artificially more expensive than elsewhere!
-
It was unintentionally 'budget' from CD Universe when it was first released!

You need to at least an earl to enjoy that dish. I thought for sure that one would have to be King.

Jim (and/or others) - any suggestions on the Steeplechase material? There is more than just a little out there ... The complete trio/quartet 8 cd box is worth chasing down. All remastered with at least a couple of dozen previously unissued alternate takes.

My fave is larks' tongues in aspic!

The cover alone is worth the price of admission, IMHO.

Coming to NYC for the NEA Jazz Masters event

Dr. Lonnie Smith Trio at the Jazz Standard on 1/11/12. Eli Degibri Quartet at Smalls on 1/11/12. He held the tenor chair in Al Foster's band. Talented guy. -
Shoulda been your first!

8:30 is complete. It includes Scarlet Woman and is about 79 mins. in length. 12 bonus tracks are included in the set -- 9 come from Live and Unreleased, 3 are from Havana Jam. The original double LP of Havana Jam contained a version of Black Market not recorded at the festival (it was the one used for 8:30). In 2005, Zawinul mixed the Havana version. That as well as an unissued version of Birdland from the same show are included in this set. The new Black Market is 9:28 and included at the end of the cd of the same name. The new Birdland is 6:36 and included at the end of the Heavy Weather cd. Hope this helps. Thanks for the info. I was hoping there would be more unreleased studio stuff like the version of 'Directions' in the Forecast Tomorrow box, but I guess not. So the only thing I am missing other than 8:30 is the Havana version of 'Birdland'. Not clear whether or not I have the Havana 'Black Market'. The version I bought in iTunes is 9:00, and the version on my 8:30 vinyl is 9:44. Neither of these seems to be the 9:28 version in the box. Bertrand. You're welcome. Sorry about the confusion. I meant that the version of 'Black Market' used for Havana Jam was the one that appeared on 8:30 (because Zawinul didn't have the time he would have needed to mix the version actually recorded at the Cuban festival for the Havana Jam record release). The version on the 8:30 vinyl IS actually the one intended for the 8:30 release (not the one intended for, but not placed on, the Havana release). No. Dissapointing, that they don't even have inner sleeves considering these are a "boutique item". Doesn't matter, I just would like the rest of that music Same type of sleeves used for the Miles Columbia Albums Collection. I do think they learned their lesson with that one though since there haven't been any of the similar glue issues on sets I've bought since that debacle.

I don't see the point in starting yet another Wynton-bashing thread.

The 15 minute live Mar Y Sol track is tacked onto the end of Inner Mounting Flame here.

Adaptable indeed! Everything from piano duos with Bill Evans to scoring for, and playing valve trombone with, big bands. Absolutely ! To me he was the epitome of the ideal 'mainstream' musician - along with Clark Terry. The Verve albums are definitely worth checking out - 'Gloomy Sunday' and '7xWilder', which I will put on the system a bit later. Crazy that that one has never been reissued on CD ! It was by our Andorran friends!

I bought it just for the cover shot, which I can use to scare my kids into submission.

I know but the product here says there are liner notes too!: http://www.popmarket.com/the-dave-brubeck-quartet-the-columbia-studio-albums-collection-1955-1966/details/25976005

Does the booklet that comes with the Studio set actually have liner notes? Mine just has pictures and discographical details.
