  1. Thanks for the heads-up, JETman. I'm tempted You are velcome!
  2. Now available, along with a Dex, Paul Desmond and Nina Simone boxes at Pop Market.
  3. Are ya "hear" heavy equipment now?
  4. This project was scrapped awhile ago. I'm sure we'll see the 2nd Juan Les Pins concert sometime in the future though.
  5. Did beat him in a Super Bowl though. For my money, THAT is the point of it all.
  6. Upon closer inspection, it appears Vol. 5 will be following on the heels of Vol.4. Both Amazon and CD Universe have the release date for Vol. 4 set at 9/6/11. CD Universe has the release date for Vol. 5 set as 9/20/11; Amazon has the release date as 10/4/11. Experience has told me that Amazon is usually quicker to update (and make more accurate) release dates.
  7. Yes, the only thing worse than paying a pitcher $16 million a year to warm the bench is paying him $16 million a year to put games out of reach for you before the second inning's over. Why does it matter, and why do you care??? The Steinbrenners do not know the meaning of the word "budget". They will always continue to pay as much as it takes to win.
  8. Does Mr. Sunenblick not realize that we "chuckies" make up the large majority of his target audience? It seems to me that when one decides to get into the entertainment industry, in any capacity, that one opens oneself up to tons of criticism, justified or not. I'm sure that if one of us were to tell Chuck that his product sucked, he'd laugh and move on. Same goes for others who are members of this board like Messrs. Weiss and Kimbrough.
  9. I believe this was originally a Kinks tune, later arranged by that badass Don Sebesky for a Jackie Cain/Irene Kral CTI album whose name I can't remember. Best record label EVER!!!
  10. There will always be those who answer Kinks. I answer Kinks, Zombies and Small Faces. All 3 answers being, of course, highly incorrect!!! Would your answer change if Sergio Mendes covering the Beatles was thrown into the mix?
  11. Does this mean that Weather Report will not be getting the "complete" treatment from Sony?
  12. Price of this has been reduced to $37.50 on Amazon's website. Does that work for everybody? I preordered this along with the Amazon exclusive 5 disc version of Hendrix Winterland which had a price reduction to $40.99. What the heck --- you only live once!
  13. Fair enough. I can be any type of motherfucker you want me to be. I come from a world where many choices were presented to me, in one form or another. I'm man enough, realistic enough, responsible enough and educated enough to know that "cool" comes in many forms, however. Btw, what is "derogatate"?
  14. Which was what? You obviously possess lots of knowledge, and write many informative posts. One vibe that is common to all of them seems to be that you're a fifty-something trying to act like a twenty-something.
  15. I already made myself clear about what I don't get. Cursing to appear cool is just so......well, faux cool. Dig?
  16. The point of this thread seems to have been to bash a hated musician, much in the same way that Keith Jarrett threads evolve. What seems to be lost on more than a few is that we can dislike someone's art without throwing around derogatory phrases to prove a point. This gets very confusing, as we all know that despite the commonly held opinion that someone like Miles Davis was truly a "motherfucker", his music is widely loved and admired in these parts.
  17. Suggest one, motherfucker. I don't have any suggestions that are suitable for a children's forum. Just so ya know, it's also hip to be square!
  18. I suggest you find a new world.
  19. Why do you find it necessary to call him a "motherfucker", though?
  20. To my ears, "Feeling Good" (mentioned above) is one of the best, if not the best, late period Blakey albums out there. I recently picked up the Sesjun sessions. They are good, but not essential IMHO. Just more of the same old, same old.
  21. Classic. Pretty sure I saw it on Broadway as well.
  22. JETman

    Vocalion

I have it as a Japanese mini-lp. 'Tis really good.
  23. I figure the only way Jeter moves out of the lead-off spot is when he tells Girardi he's ready to go. To my knowledge, I don't think he's ever admitted he's struggling. Truly unfortunate, but such is the coin of his realm. Two thumbs up for Posada and Swisher. Both have come around nicely after disastrous starts. It would be nice to see Posada to out on a high note and even if the Yanks choose not to sign Swisher beyond this year, it would position him well in the F.A. market. If the Yanks can put together a July that matches their June, I'm going to start getting psyched about the post season. Oh, BTW, don't worry about Colon getting on base. I've taken it upon myself to notify the geology departments at all major universities in the area that they should recalibrate their seismographs beginning at 4:10 PM (ET) this coming Saturday. No major universities on that island!
