  8. ... and the rest of Stockport, I expect This Davenport has jazz associations, as well as the Iowa one. I saw Shorty Rogers at the Davenport Theater in the mid-eighties leading NYJO (British National Youth Jazz Orchestra). He wrote a marvelous composition for them called "Davenport" which has probably never been recorded. I remember the Davenport very well Bill. Never went to a jazz show, though I do remember a children's show in the very early eighties (my dad was the musical director) and Steve Coogan's "Bag Of Shite" show in about 1993. I only live round the corner from the site. They sold it to Stockport Grammar school and Kwik Fit, if you didn't know. It would be nice to hear that tune.

  23. The entire recorded output of Robbie Williams is a shocking omission IMO: Eg My breath smells of a thousand fags And when I dance I look like me dad I'm starting to dress a bit like him. And early morning when I wake up I look like Kiss but without the make-up And that's a good line to take it to the bridge. That's an example of his work when he had a songwriter; his own stuff is even worse. Unfortunately I can't bring it to mind, as I turn him off immediately whenever I hear it on the radio.
  24. Jazzjet Why not try this: On Amazon, set search to music, then type in Blue Note. After this, click "under 5 pounds" (bottom left of the screen), then set the search criteria at the top to "Price: Low To High". Then simply scroll through the first few pages. Doing this, I've found loads of new Blue Notes for under one fifty. The beauty of this is, that due to the liquid pricing, if you do this every few days, you'll find different titles at such prices. They might not all be the classic albums, but you really can't go wrong at those prices. I actually got the Grant Green 4CD set for one pound thirty-five doing this.
