He pulled out of a Dutch race yesterday and will be out of the Jyske Bank Grand Prix race in Denmark today! Would be more bad cycling news if he is out of those races because of the doping story Very sad if that's true, even with a spanish new winner of the Tour. Since Ullrich would have won this Tour (IMHO) I would quite like to know the ins and outs of this doping scandal I don't get it. I read that it involved withdrawing, freezing, then reintroducing blood. But is that 'doping'? And how do the effects differ from an oxygen tent? Is that the whole story? And why is it thought that Ullrich and co. are so definitely guilty? Brownie? Anybody?

How is that one? I don't know yet - it's still in the shrinkwrap! Just arrived today. I'll let you know as soon as I have played it...

I had about half an hour of this on tape from the one hour digest on ITV here in England (I had a duathlon myself yesterday evening so no time for more...). Yes it was fantastic - a real race. That said, I think Ullrich and Basso are in a different league and would have made for a better race. Sadly we lost the chance to see the Tour that could have been. This one is genuinely exciting and interesting. Oh and his name's Landis. Put that brandy bottle away!

There was a Japanese issue which (I believe) only included Volume 1. I agree that a 2on1 CD release would work well. That said, the LPs sell for a modest price and while it is certainly interesting I'm not sure sure it would make much money for whoever reissues it.

Anyone care for this Bailey/Haino offering (on Incus)? Haino is on vocals. I never did acquire the (usually rather expensive) 'Drawing Close, Attuning' with KH on guitar. Oldies but goldies. PS I realise that KH is not big in these quarters but I hope you don't mind me dropping his name from time to time... PPS This is a fierce one. 'Fearless Leader' sounds hopefully like it will be the Coltrane led dates, perhaps in better sound than the outgoing box. Personally I can't wait for 'Fearless Sideman'.
