  1. Material from Ronnie's which we have heard so far (from their own label and from Harkit) has never been less than interesting, often intensely interesting, even though the sound is 'historical'. It seems a British jazz club had more sense than most US ones to archive material - perhaps at that time jazz was more valued over here than there? Or perhaps American musicians couldn't be taken for granted the way they were back home?
  2. Yes, an old favorite! It's great that people are discovering this for the first time on DVD.
  3. And see the discussion (including my own search for a copy...) here
  4. I have only heard Tom in concert once, with the Charlie Haden Liberation Orchestra donkey's years ago. I was struck by his performance manner. He suffers (I believe) from an illness that has to be controlled by heavy meds and the effect is that he is reclusive on stage and evidences tremors and spasms when he plays. Folks maybe already know all about this but I thought I'd mention it .
  5. Sidewinder is plain fare. For me Rumproller is actually a slightly better Sidewinder.
  6. I would be interested to hear Lonely Town. All Bernstein tunes, right? The 'snooze' reports make me almost afraid to admit any interest in it.... but if I come across a vinyl or CD I'll likely pick it up. [in fact, I've been attempting to track down a copy - no luck whatsoever...]
  7. Various titles dribbling out of Japan, including what seem to be 'nice price' versions of the earlier (unloved?)SBJC series. View here.
  8. Also worth noting that 'Impact' is due for reissue from Enja in December, and that 'The Ringer' can be had for only £814.63 from an amazon seller. Bargain.
  9. Very hard to find, rarely comes up.
  10. I wasn´t aware of that. Could you give any reference? CD Columbia COL 4713202
  11. A Drum is a Woman was reissued in 1995 in Europe, but perhaps not in US?
  12. Thanks for the tips. I'll wait for the CD issue. FWIW the CD of Loosdrecht can be had very cheaply. I don't know whther the LP contained more than the five tracks on the CD.
  13. 'California , With Love' is OK, but I have never regarded it as a priority. Rehearing it in the context of all the unreleased material could either change or confirm that view.
  14. Any recommendations on this one? Is there a CD? Got a chance on a vinyl. Did these tracks get sneaked on another CD or something like that? Anyone?
  15. Congratulations Paul! Looking forward to the pictures!!
  16. Back for just a minute or so for this one: 1 yellow card will be cancelled after the group phase 2 or more yellow cards in the group phase -> suspension in the knock-out phase. I'm off again. Got it! Thanks!
  17. Watched the USA-Italy game. Damn! On a different topic, the England manager is talking baout resting players who are on yellow cards for the third group game. But I thought all cards were cancelled at the end of the group stage. Am I right? If so, what is the point of resting players? I think De Rossi deserves banning for the rest of the tournament, by the way.
  18. Thanks, Kevin! I'm starting to believe it, then! Great!!! Hey! Why didn't you believe ME... ?
  19. Just about my whole street is pissed off that they can't access comcast. I just got revenge on ALL my neighbors - even the ones I don't know!
  20. The ones on sale in the UK are European manufactured and are NOT repeat NOT cc-ed. I can't promise, but I suspect amazon.de is in error. Don't know if you ever bought a copycrap version of anything. I did (Boston Blow-Up). It won't play in the car, it has sometimes skipped in the main CD player - but if I hold down 'Escape' when I put it in the PC it both plays and copies adequately. I think they concluded that CC doesn't work, and I suspect that retailers complained about handling returns and damged sales. I also suspect that some people (not me of course) might regard rip-off cc editions as fair game for file sharing. Like I say, I'm not one.
  21. Has anyone ever ordered from the Cadence website? I have two issues (1) the page that takes credit card details seems not to be secure (2) European shipping costs are not given per CD so you are left guessing a bit. Any thoughts anyone?
  22. Wel... I caught up eventually, didn't I?
  23. Seriously (once you have figured this out) I just discovered this resource - maybe most of you guys already knew about it?
  24. I know that people want to hear that Tyner stuff but, in honesty, the anticipation might create over-excitement and expectations that the music can't easily meet. I sold my CD of Expansions once, bought another, now I think maybe I'll sell it again. That is the rare one of the three CDs and the best. I'd say anyone who cares already has Asante and Extension (and quite likely sold them) and they are easy to find. If it is a question of Cosmos on CD I'd be happier to see that as a separate release. This way buyers are duplicating just to get this album. Not as bad as the Hipnosis case maybe, but in the same camp.
