  1. Got any links or more info? I've found precisely nothing about it.
  2. I've found some amazing deals on there. I would say it beats eBay/Amazon roughly half the time.
  3. Heart Like A Wheel is tremendous. So is the Trio album with Dolly Parton & Emmylou. Such a beautiful voice, very sad news.
  4. That's customary in general.
  5. Franz Koglmann - The Use of Memory (hat ART) Amazon: $19.98 Discogs: $24 Cadence: $15 Today's eBay auction? $42.50
  6. Yeah, the worthwhile to trash ratio of this has got to be 1:1000 Reminds me of the delusional antique shop owner who has a beat up US Beatles LP behind glass for $100
  7. I'm guessing this is new: A very affordable LP reissue of Sunny Murray - Apple Cores http://www.dustygroove.com/item/670504
  8. Good point, and there were many shows that I wished could have been longer, because there was so much ground to cover in both departments. Some of my favorite PJ episodes are ones that never made it to LP/CD. By the way, is it just me, or have the show's archives been thinned out rather drastically? Many are hard to find. I am very much on the hunt for Ran Blake in 1994. NYPL has it on CD, but that's not much use to me.
  9. Taylor Ho Bynum/Tomas Fujiwara - Stepwise is wonderful. KV's solo Mark In the Water is also very nice.
  10. I don't think so. Pretty sure Jazz Loft still stocks them. I'd bet Squidco does too. I find they're often best to get from artists directly. Just remembered Jazz Loft is running a 30% off sale on some Not Two titles until 8/24. Nothing that looks essential to me, however.
  11. A great, long life. RIP.
  12. Just came here to post the same thing! Maybe nothing new to us here, but sure to be a good listen all the same. There's an episode about Monk in the archives that's also good.
  13. Never been within 500 miles of the place, but it's a state of the art space. The performance area doubles as a recording studio. Beyond that it looks warm and classy. I'd love to see something there.
  14. These look like must-haves, thanks. The Consort album on Kind of Blue with Paul Motian is a minor masterpiece. I can think of no better ascendant to his chair than Hemingway.
  15. I was just running with Milestones' question about BN composers writ large. I personally think he has more to do with (60s) Hancock than Monk, Silver, Shorter, or the Avant Gardists.
  16. He wrote very interesting music that was played to hell by wonderful groups of brilliant players. But he's no patch on Silver or Shorter.
  17. I need a new copy of Wels/Chicago Last 2 tracks on disc 2 remain the pinnacle for this trio: Blues for Tomorrow and Burning Sky But I've never believed they weren't based on charts Well I placed my order Friday AM and the two Okkadisks got to South Louisiana today. Holy moly. Looking forward to checking those out.
  18. This morning: Clifford Jordan & The Magic Triangle - The Highest Mountain (Inner City/Steeplechase)
  19. Jealous as always. The Parker/Campbell/Davis trio looks awesome.
  20. RIP. I'll certainly spin Mosaic today. Very sad news.
  21. 3 from KV: -Resonance Ensemble - Whose Country is This? (Not Two) -Topology Nonet - Impressions of Po Music (Okkadisk) -DKV Trio - Wels/Chicago 1998 (Okkadisk)
  22. I think you'll all get a kick out of this: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaM6lTmhnak&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DZaM6lTmhnak
  23. I know some people here also share that ambivalence, but not me. I love his playing and have never failed to enjoy his music & presence. Modernistic is one of my very favorite solo piano albums, up there with Cecil Taylor, Earl Hines, and Ran Blake.
