  1. They're currently gigging with Vijay Iyer, so hopefully we'll see that on record down the road.
  2. Jackie McLean - Jacknife (Blue Note) The High Frequency session. Jackie with DeJohnette is sensational. A damn shame they didn't record together more.
  3. Trio 3 + Jason Moran is forthcoming on Intakt.
  4. Oliver Lake - Gallery (Grammavision) with Geri Allen, Fred Hopkins & Pheeron AkLaff
  5. Earlier today: John Surman & Jack DeJohnette - The Amazing Adventures of Simon Simon (ECM) John Surman - Private City (ECM) I'm a sucker for those 80s synthy ECMs on a rainy day.
  6. Yeah, a distinction must certainly be made between asking prices and auction prices. Regarding the latter, the Willisau & Santa Cruz Braxtons are still hitting the $75-120 mark on ebay.
  7. I have noticed that Chicago record stores resell Chicago albums at deliriously low prices.
  8. As a heads up, Dusty Groove has an LP copy for $1.99 at the moment.
  9. I put this on today as well. Very nice.
  10. I like the list of Chicago jazz. Did you make that, too?
  11. I don't know for sure either, but my hunch in that they are the real deal. Some titles are not available, which I don't think would be the case if they were on-demand. I also once read a comment from Bonandrini where he said it was a misnomer that the CD catalogue as a whole was ever out of print, just poorly circulated.
  12. Paul Lytton/Paul Lovens

Never mind, that was JazzLoft who don't seem to have it anymore. Looks like $19.95 + $26.95 shipping at Squidco. Oof :/

Not sure what the rate to Australia is at Squidco, but they had it for $14.95USD.

That's what got me thinking in that direction.

The trio with Maneri & Ban sounds wonderful. Shades of the ECMs with Phillips & Bley?
  17. Wayne Shorter - Etc. from 1965 w/ Herbie, Cecil McBee, Joe Chambers. Oops, missed this on the first page. At least it's still true all these years later.
  18. Or just wishful thinking.
  19. I know less about jazz, but yes, in my experience buying Beatles records German pressings are top of the line.
  20. I'll check it out. I love PYHT.
  21. Billy Higgins & Butch Warren on Blue Note is the classic pairing, but when Billy played with Ornette he really took on new dimensions. I'll always enjoy him most in that context.
  22. It's a quintet session from 1962 with Evans, Zoot Sims, Jim Hall, Ron Carter, and Philly Joe Jones. It was first issued as a Japanese LP. It's been issued in the U.S. on CD as Loose Blues. Oh, that's a nice sleeve! I never saw that one before. Same artist who did 'Matador'. MG The actual cover is a somewhat lighter shade of green than the color in the image I posted. I figured it was that stuff. Thanks.
  23. Jimmy Lyons Quintet - We Sneezawee (Black Saint) Stanley Crouch's notes are completely dickheaded, about how the avant grade lacks masterful instrumentalists, and how the inept cloak themselves in made-up concepts & theories. Classic example of extrapolating one's own experiences to the whole?
  24. What's on that one, Paul? The Bill Evans, that is.
