  1. Right, so my question is if this is a feature that could be added?
  2. Hi, I understand that if you click on a member's name on the side of a post, and you select from the drop-down "Find Member's Posts," it will display all of that member's posts on the board. Is there a way to find member's posts only in a particular topic? The search function lets you find a member's posts in a particular forum, but not a topic. I think this could be useful. For example, in the past few months that I have joined, I have found some members that seem to have similar tastes and that have shared vast amounts of knowledge. By finding all of that member's posts in the topics "What vinyl are you currently spinning?" or "What are you currently listening to?" I'd be able to form an excellent albums wishlist, often with specific insight from a source that I trust. Perhaps there is a way to create a topic that lists each member's specific posts to those respective topics. The compiled "1 artist 1 album" list from years ago has been similarly helpful for me. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jay
  3. PM on: Donald Byrd & Gigi Gryce, Xtacy (Trip) I believe this is the recording that hasn't seen reissue, it has the somewhat large half-naked black lady on the cover VG+ (edge wear, hole punch, slight ring wear) / NM Johnny Griffin, Jazz a Confronto (Horo – Japanese pressing) One of the best Griff LPs of all, this has a color photo of the Little Giant doing his thing NM/NM Johnny Griffin, Jazz a Confronto (Horo) Less sturdy jacket than copy listed above – this has a sort of modern art cover VG (tape on open end, general wear, tear on back mars "Joh" at top left of back cover) NM vinyl
  4. Blus March gets my blood boiling. The Timmons/Golson group of Messengers is prime as far as I'm concerned.
  5. The Sam Rivers set sold. The Thelonious Monk Set didn't. I'll knock off $30 and sell it here for $95. PM if interested. Thanks, Jay
  6. I bought both of these at used music stores a year or two ago. Unlike the sketchy Braxton set we saw someone put immediately on Ebay while still in print, when I bought these two they were already missing the booklet (Sam Rivers set is missing the box too). But they were both OOP, so I went for them. And I love both of them. I've since found complete sets of each of these, so I'm selling these two on ebay. THELONIOUS MONK Black Lion and Vogue Mosaic LP Box OOP SAM RIVERS Complete Blue Note Mosaic CD set OOP My heart tells me to have a discounted price to Organissimo members, but my wallet is suffering. Next time. Besides, I need to pay for Dan Gould's LPs Please let me know if you have any questions about these items. -Jay
  7. Not twofers, but I wasn't sure where to post this. I just picked up ten of these still sealed for $38 bucks. Seemed like a good deal. Any comments on this Best Of Blue Note Years Series? Apparently they were for Blue Note's 50th Anniversary, issued in 1989. Is this the full set of them? How is the sound?
  8. PM on the way on: Concert in Argentina (Halcyon) Earl Hines, Teddy Wilson, Ellis Larkins, Marian McPartland This is a very rare recording in its complete form (there is a CD reissue that couldn't fit all the music) VG+ (some peeling starting on spine but otherwise mint) / VG+ Junior Cook, Pressure Cooker (Affinity) NM/VG+ Shirley Scott & The Soul Saxes (Atlantic) With King Curtis, Hank Crawford and David Newman VG+ (corner ding) / VG+ Horace Silver – Live 1964 (Emerald) What's extra cool about this set is that it’s the Joe Henderson-Carmell Jones band performing earlier tunes like Filthy McNasty, Tokyo Blues and Senor Blues. VG+ (corner ding) / VG+ (marks but very few that make noise) Horace Silver, The Stylings of Silver (Liberty era Blue Note) VG+/VG+ Ira Sullivan Quintet Featuring Johnny Griffin (Delmar) Yes, Delmar is the label, so you know its an original pressing or close to it VG+ / VG+ Three Sounds, Live at the Lighthouse (Blue Note audition copy) VG (ring wear, slight seam split at top, some browning, "11-15-67" written on back) / VG+ The Three Sounds, Vibrations (Blue Note) VG+ (ringwear and a tiny bit of writing on back)/VG+
  9. This book will definitely be at the top of my list. I can't wait. Larry, you should get Peter on the board so we can wrings some juicy details from him before it comes out!
  10. Miles Davis--Miles Ahead (Columbia 6-eye with the white lady on the sailboat) Clark Terry--Memories of Duke (Pablo) Oliver Nelson--The Blues and the Abstract Truth (Impulse, CBS reissue)
  11. I just received a first printing of this one in excellent condition from amazon marketplace for $20!! This has to be the most beautiful book I own. The tipped-in illustrations are radiant, and the rest of the book is just really well designed. :rsmile:
  12. Bud Powell LP 5. Thought I was listening to Horace Silver for a minute there with Comin' Up!
  13. Bud Powell Complete Blue Note LPs 3 and 4 That trio with Curtis Fuller's bone as the only horn is fascinating. I surprisingly like it, but I guess it could use some more brass. Some real bluesy stuff and lots of Monk influence on the Time Waits session.
  14. Earlier: The Roscoe Mitchell Solo Saxophone Concerts (Sackville) whetting my appetite for the arrival of Nonaah!
  15. I keep passing on this one at a nearby store. How is it?
  16. Jay, Some of the earlier titles on Prestige, New Jazz, Swingville and Moodsville were reissued on the Status label. However, the last numbers of the New Jazz catalogue were issued only on the Status label (but with ST instead of NJ prefix). Pressing quality of Status issues is so so. First pressings of the Byard records you mention should have blue labels with logo on top. Peter Thanks Peter! Exactly the type of answer I was looking for.
  17. Nice to know you are a fan. Sadly, Chuck, I am a fan. I appreciate what you've done--to have dedicated yourself to providing a label that enabled agents to create such significant works of art as Congliptious, People in Sorrow, Les Stances A Sophie, Serenade and Blues, Have No Fear, and the Bowie album on your avatar--and I've been looking forward to your current reissue projects. I'd just appreciate a straight-forward answer to a straight-forward question.
  18. Also, the LP I have sounds great, anyway. I was just curious.
  19.    Congratulations Chuck Nessa! You've just broken the record for the most consecutive smug responses to jazz collector queries! 14171 is a number you should be proud of. To have avoided a single post on this board of any genuine emotion other than self-satisfaction is remarkable. If you haven't already passed out from the past hour and a half of sniffing your own farts, I hope you enjoy your triumph. Groovissimo! But seriously, I only bought the Sunshine of My Soul LP for $10. I was skeptical that it was listed as an original pressing, so I wanted to find out the truth. I apologize for not having been born before 1945 and not having caught the jazz bug until relatively recently. I haven't seen any of these three LPs with another label, so I tried to find a labelography for Prestige. I couldn't find one, I did a search on this board so as to avoid a redundant topic. I found this topic and asked for a clarification. Is that not exactly what this board is for? Or is it just a source of flattery to make people still feel relevant? How is the city of jazz supposed to thrive without respect and communication? Oh, and I take it green label=reissue? Is the green label analogous to liberty or blue label BN's?
  20. 3) Dark Blue label with Trident Logo on the right (1964-67) 4) Dark Blue label with Trident Logo in circle at the top (1967-69) 5) Purple Label with Trident Logo in circle at the top (1969-72) 6) Bright Green Label with Trident Logo (also white label promos) (post-Fantasy purchase) Subsidiaries (jazz) included New Jazz, Moodsville, Swingville, and Status, the latter reissuing earlier titles. So, I have a question. I still can't find a labelography for these. Is this to say that Status is the only subsidiary out of these to reissue earlier titles? The green label Prestige, distributed by Fantasy aren't necessarily reissues, right? Or are they? For these examples, is the original dark blue, purple, or green? I've seen or have green labels for each of these, and was wondering if they are original pressings or not: -7550: Sunshine of my Soul (Jaki Byard) [10/31/67] -7615: The Jaki Byard Experience (Jaki Byard) [9/17/68] -7686: Solo Piano (Jaki Byard) [7/31/69] Thanks! -Jay
