  1. Nice. I'm listening to the BN sessions now.
  2. I've actually seen an album or two where Ray Charles plays alto sax--I believe for the entire album. I can't track down the info though right now. Edit to add that it was a tribute to Charlie Parker, iirc
  3. Don Wilkerson--Cookin' With Clarence from Shoutin'! session on the Complete Blue Note Conn. I was caught listening to this at a party when friends came back from a cigarette break with my headphones on, my eyes shut, and my head bobbing. Someone needed to ask if I was ok. I said, I'm great!

    John Young

Up. I'm listening to the Touch of Pepper LP on Argo-Cadet I got from Dan, and I love it. I first heard John Young on one of Chuck's Von Freeman LPs, and thought, damn I gotta get something with him as a leader. I highly recommend this one.
  5. The John Young Trio--A Touch of Pepper (Argo-Cadet)
  6. Very sorry to hear this. I just ordered "Introducing," the Conn that is going out of print.
  7. Junior Cook. I was just listening to Pressure Cooker last night, and I like it, but it's just missing something. I kept thinking, I wish that were HS on piano--that would really make this swing!
  8. VG condition! What an enormous waste of money.
  9. The Kalaparusha tune "Jays" from the Wildflowers New York Jazz Loft Sessions fits this perfectly.
