  5. I wish I was allowed to play organ.
  6. But one who mistakes a kid for a grasshoper is even a bigger fool.
  7. How do you know she wants to be a musician. Or even play an instrument? Dont push her into it! I'm just kidding, I think it's great if she does.
  8. Assumptions are inevitable, finding out is the key.
  9. If you tackle life like that you might just turn out to be one domb mutha truka, but whateva, I'm leaving this thread alone.
  10. When did he ask? I dont get this thread. Should I?
  11. My question is always how can you listen to something WITH words.
  12. no one gives a flying fuck.
  13. I'm getting tired of these one word replies that don't make sense. Unless you are saying that jazz music is not a game..
  14. I know, that's what I am looking for. I haven't found any yet. Have you listened to the Mulligan Concert Jazz Band yet? Nah, I only have Buddy Rich and Bob florence records as far as big band goes, and the only other big band I really heared was Mel Lewis's Big Band.
  15. what?
  16. Yeah like I said I was thinking of Just You And Me. I think it's a very nice flute solo by Walter Parazaider. The song was part of a 7 or 8 song suite off their second album which was very cool. These were the good songs before Chicago turned pop and threw all the coolness and brilliance they ever had out the window.
  17. I know, that's what I am looking for. I haven't found any yet.
  18. I didn't like the record at first either. The fact that it was pretty mellow, slow, and subtle didnt appeal to me in that stage of my life. I hadn't grown yet.
  19. Some nice jazz though.
  20. The 70's had the worst pop music. Oh that is not as bad as the 80's 90's and 200's, but the 70's was still pretty bad. Let's not forget about disco.
  21. Yep, I like the early 70's period way better than their mid to late 60's period.
  22. Epitome of early 70's MJQ. That album is part of the albums leading up to their last concert album in 1974, along with Blues On Bach. They were more free by this point, but they still had their sound.
  23. Same here (especially the orchestral things), but as the 60s wore on, those tendencies became less common (or at least less overt), and that's when things got a little more interesting for me. I remember in 1975 (74? 76?) when they were celebrating some anniversary, and they had a run of appearances on several TV shows. The music was very strange, really, lots of vamps and open-ended sections with sparse changes, no real "beat" out of Kay, just a nice soft blur of sound. "Avant-garde" in many respects, although it was still performed in tuxedos and stuff. Flip Wilson Show
  24. I didn't at first either. Who knows.
  25. I am looking for Meet The Jazztet and The Three Sounds' Black Orchid. Is a trade possible? Anyone interested?
