  1. Congrats to Manny on his historic homer!
  2. The fade-out of "Black Cow" is two minutes of sheer bliss for me. Not that big a fan of "classic" Dan; I've been enjoying and actually prefer Two Against Nature, Everything Must Go, and Fagen's Morph the Cat. For me, Steely Dan's music makes me feel like I'm in NYC, despite the fact that I've never been there.
  3. You made me interrupt my listening to Bird for THAT?????
  4. Yep, that's the one I have!
  5. Scorecards, get yer scorecards here! Can't tell one baseball poster from the other cuz they keep quoting each other!! Scorecards, get yer scorecards here!!!
  6. No, he should not be fired. He should be told that the team is letting him go and allow Joe to make it look like he's resigning/retiring. I've always liked Torre and held him in the highest regard, even though he does manage the team of the evil empire. However, if he balks at that proposal, then all bets are off. What I'm trying to say is, Torre shouldn't come back, but NY would do well to let Joe walk out on his own terms.
  7. I wasn't a fan of T.O.'s signing, neither were most Cowboy fans, in particular others on this board - if you do a search you'll see that. I know he was a Niners pick, give me some credit. I also know he wears out his welcome sooner or later - he is a jackass. But I think he's made a huge effort to work WITH Tony Romo this year, whereas he didn't with Garcia in San Fran, or Donovan in Philly. He's contributing to the team in a positive manner. Either way, your Mr. "You Heard it Here First" isn't a "first" as you declared while patting yourself on the back. But you go right ahead thinking you know something nobody else knows. People have been expecting him to screw up from the day Jerry Jones signed him. His true character will show once the Boys rack up their first L. Sure he's being gracious now: he's on a team that's 5-0. Let's check back five weeks from now, see what the Boys record is, and see what his attitude is. I always hate to admit when Goody's right, but I think he's on the money with this one.
  8. I don't know about y'all, but my money's on New England. Buffalo exposed some serious flaws in Dallas overall game plan. It's New England's game to lose. I could be wrong, but I'm still betting NE emerges as the lone undefeated team after this Sunday.
  9. The game should never have come down to that play to begin with. Romo was only one of many reasons the Boys lost that game. And they deserved to lose it, too. You'll get no argument from me on this one.
  10. No he won't. Tank Johnson will do that. You read THAT here first. And yes, I know you're an SF Giants fan. Give me SOME credit. Sheesh
  11. One of those promos I think - intended for radio station use. Quite rare I believe. And I paid only fifty cents for it!!!! I'm just giggling with excitement about this! I NEVER stumble over anything this rare!
  12. No! Or, to quote the immortal Daffy Duck, "It's mine, y'unnerstand? Mine, all mine! Get back in there! Down! Down! Down! Go! Go! Go! Mine! Mine! Mine! OOOOOOHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!"
  13. Well, I did buy it at a fundraiser for the Arlington Public Library, so it wasn't TOO big of a ripoff!
  14. I get so tired of ESPN's pro-NY bias. On the radio, they sounded downright disappointed that their beloved Yankees had just lost. No celebration for Cleveland or anything like that. Just, "Swing and a miss, and the ball game is over." Like it was some kind of late August game by two teams in dead last. Sunday night's game, they were going apeshit that NY was winning. Last night, they were so subdued, I thought they had slipped into a coma. Can you imagine how much these a-holes would be juicing their undies if Cleveland struck out swinging, giving the series to NY? Fucking assholes, these shitheads at ESPN.
  15. Well then, this is a pretty good fold-down! I forgot to mention that this is a promo LP, with the white MONO sticker pasted over the STEREO on the jacket. The rest of the jacket says "BST" inside and outside. The unusual thing is the record label itself: the old blue & white scheme, with a catalog number of BLP-4276. Hadn't Blue Note started using the Liberty-style label, black with a light-blue stripe on the left-hand side? Strange!
  16. Well, it cost me a quarter, but I got my answer: I want my money back. I know that I am in a distinct minority, but I like the 1973 reunion album. It is not a Byrds album. It is more of an "acoustic guitar/singer-songwriter" album of that era. For that, it is no worse than many albums in that genre from that period. It was common for two or more folksy singer songwriters to join together and record an album at that time, with varying results. To me, it is not a disaster or unlistenable. Someone expecting to hear what "Younger Than Yesterday" would have sounded like if Gene Clark was still in the band would be disappointed, as they did not even try to match the sound of the 1960s Byrds. And for that, I applaud them; I knew it wasn't going to sound like a "Byrds album." And I agree with your assessment that it's a singer/songwriter album. But with their level of talent, they still should've been able to put out something that was better than the bland CSN-type album they actually produced.
  17. Is this a dedicated mono mix or is it a fold-down? Sounds like real mono to me, but then I don't know when Blue Note stopped making mono records.
  18. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I was wondering if anyone was ever gonna call me out for that....
  19. I absolutely, totally, 100% AGREE!!! I'm gonna try that lineup tomorrow. But I'm also gonna add "Stranger in a Strange Land," just because I love that grooooooove!
  20. Agree all the way.
  21. Surprises me. He's a pretty good QB. I wouldn't trade him for Alex Smith - in fact, not sure I'd trade him for anyone except Manning or Brady. That's how good I think he can be. I admire your loyalty, but question your reasoning. This from a Giants fan? Captain Fumble Fingers? Where's the reasoning in THAT? What, the guy muffs a snap in Seattle and you're ready to write him off? This was an unbelievable ending to an unreal game. Romo proves he's human to the folks around here who are already speaking in terms of Super Bowls, and yet the Boys win despite all the interceptions. Regardless of what happens this year, this year's Cowboys are showing that they are truly a TEAM, working as a team, playing as a team, and (so far) winning as a team. Who would ever have thought the rookie kicker would nail TWO 53-yard field-goals? I love it when legal (but dirty) plays blow up in someone's face like that!
  22. For some reason, I actually enjoy "Mind Gardens," but only if I don't listen to the words themselves. Crosby's voice blends nicely with the guitars, making the whole piece sound very melodic.
  23. Well, it cost me a quarter, but I got my answer: I want my money back.
  24. Noooo.... They were great, no doubt. But they stayed in stride until long after he left.
