  1. Well, I guess I've been shown the light by Christiern and 7/4. Boy, do I feel like I've been put in MY place, I'm telling you. My apologies to Johnny E, if he feels insulted that I would dare compliment him without the approval of the Organissimo Elite! EDIT No, I'm sorry; my sentiments for Johnny were from the heart. My apologies to the Organissimo Elite for not going through them before offering my compliments to others on this Board.
  2. Well, I’d like to think I’ve atoned for past greeeeaze-related sins of the past by finally getting my hands on Brother Jack’s Prestige Years compilation. DAMN, is this stuff hot!!! A couple ballads here & there, but mostly livin’ up to the titles of a few choice tracks: Tough Duff Screamin “Yeah Baby” with some Hot Barbecue while doin’ the Organ Grinder’s Swing! I feel ashamed that it took me this long to get it!
  3. See? We didn't forget this year! I'll spin EC's "What' So Funny 'bout Peace Love and Understanding" in your honor tonight!
  4. Finally, a voice of reason linking the political to this tragedy.
  5. Hey, you just violated sheldonm's civil rights by not mentioning him in your list of targets. What is this, Chris? Why are you excluding him? Not anti-semitic enough for ya? Or maybe you know who he voted for; what worries me is how you know who I voted for? Got news for ya, my equitable friend: it weren't Bush!!!! Chew on that for a few minutes, while I promote your latest book "Christiern's Guide to Self-Fulfilling Propheteering." B-)
  6. You know it. Between the modal mastery of "Latona" to THE definitive version (IMHO) of "The Shadow of Your Smile," this one is right up there with GAGTG!!!
  7. Naw, that's cool! Believe me: this is one BFT I'm happy to have an extra copy of! Now then: how 'bout some answers?
  8. ...in the political forum! Word!
  9. Very interesting indeed, as it appears that seismic shifts/earthquakes are still happening in the area hardest hit. It appears that this whole disaster is far from over. God help those folks.
  10. Well...... it is now! See my original post, now edited!
  11. James Spaulding (oops again! It's just been brought to my attention that Spaulding is not white. But he sure looks kinda pale on Night of the Cookers, doncha think?)
  12. Guess what finally arrived yesterday?
  13. Paul Desmond (oops! that'll teach me to leave a thread open for so long before replying)
  14. Old thread, new post. I happened to get the TOCJ of this for a good price, and man I'm glad I did: the sound on this is un-frickin'-believable!!! I've been listening to this here at work for three hours straight now, and it never tires nor does it let up. In fact, it's what's kept me awake this morning! Kudos to whoever chose this AOTW way back when!
  15. You really expect me to believe that you weren't aware of his athletic prowess? This from someone who searches what seems like every available news source on the web for all sorts of available information; from someone as well-read and intelligent as you are; from someone who makes quite a fuss about the formatting of his posts. No, I don't buy that for a second. What I do believe is that you will go out of your way to point out just about everyone's flaws, be they athletes, politicians, celebrities, hell, even fellow board-members. Why is that, Chris? Why are you so obsessed with pointing out others flaws? Are you that uncomfortable in your own skin that you feel the need to bring others up/down to your level? As for Farrakhan's remarks, I'll make a promise: I'll accept on the same day, the same moment, that you do. Or have you already?
  16. Wonder if the funeral's gonna be anything like this?
  17. Word! If people want to make this part of their remembrance of him (and censure the remarks they should), fine; I'm just concerned that this is the ONLY thing they choose to remember about him. I'm not even sure it deserves equal footing with his sports accomplishments. But then, how much of that would we remember were it not for his outspokenness? Just thinking out loud....
  18. FWIW, I completely agree with this statement.
  19. Speaking of inequity, you're the one who decided to bring it to everyone's attention what an "outspoken born-again homophobe" White allegedly was. I am sure there are millions who appreciate your little gesture of "equity." Oh, and one other thing: none of the folks you listed have passed on. I suspect that when they do, you'll be just as "equitable" to those folks as you are to White.
  20. Also interesting how people put more weight on the comments rather than on the whole man's life. Especially on one they've never met. Did you know Reggie White? No, but I think I'll give more credence to those who did (those quoted in the ESPN story) than to those who didn't (pretty near everyone in this thread).

  22. I hear ya. I'm the same way (don't watch too many DVDs), except that Christmas is really the only time I get DVDs for myself. It usually takes me a full year to watch them all!
