  1. Got this set for Christmas, and so far have only listened to disc two (Jams #3 & #4). Lovin' it so far. Basie & Co. really blaze up a storm on these jams!
  2. Dat link didn't woik, doc!
  3. You and Jim R are on the right track with this.
  4. Merry Christmas to all. May you be blessed with peace, happiness, and the Mosaic Select of your choice!
  5. I needs to get a copy of your BFT! I'd love to hear it! Especially for you, my friend! Merry Christmas, and be thankful I didn't choose track 17 from that CD instead!
  6. DRAT!!! This was one track I was hoping to fool y'all with! Good call, Marty!
  7. Dude, I'm still waiting on your address!!! PM it to me and I'll send it out ASAP!!!
  8. Track 18: AAAUUUUUGGGHHHHHH!!!!! This is gonna drive me nutz! I should KNOW this tune! I've got it somewhere in my collection, I wanna say on an Ellington album, but that doesn't sound right! Somebody PLEASE provide a link for this one!!!!
  9. Again, with the kind permission of mmilovan, let the festive discussion begin! Once again, no real surprises expected but if the holiday cheer comes through, then I'll have felt like it was a success! And in the spirit of rampant PC-ness, Merry Hannukwanzamas!!
  10. With the kind permission of mmilovan, I am starting the discussion for disc one of BFT #21. There's no real theme, other than just wanting it to swing and groove from start to finish. If I got that across, than I'll feel like I succeeded, because I fully expect y'all to identify each track on here! B-) Fire away!!!
  11. With any luck (and a few gift certificates), I'd like to pick up the Monk Prestige box to hear this session in its entirety!
  12. Science is some folks calling, others pilot a ship; my mission in life simply stated is... a moustache on every lip! :rsmile:
  13. ..... ( ) Hey Al, see if there's any fastbirds in the garage. That's the only kind I have! I'll be hiding under the covers again if anyone needs me.....
  14. You got THAT right. What a treat it is to see him live, he looks like he’s got a few extra arms flyin’ around back there with him!
  15. I'm in no hurry myself, obviously. However, I only made three or four emergency discs. In all honesty, I drastically underestimated how quickly my BFT discs would reach people. The mail, for once, was much faster than I anticipated. Please folks, if you haven't had a chance to listen to this wonderful BFT, please do so (and comment if you have the chance) before digging into my BFT! I guarantee you, mmilovan's BFT is waaaaay cooler than mine! I oughta know! B-)
  16. That's not fair!!! I knew I shoulda sent it out by carrier bastbird!
  17. Damn, cuz they sound like a bunch of DIRTY old greeeazers!!! Speaking of old greeeazers, anyone ever pick up Jimmy Smith's SIX VIEWS OF THE BLUES? Now THAT is some baaaad greeeeaze!!! Cecil Payne's baritone is so down & dirty!
  18. It's weird, when Family Guy was first aired, I watch a few episodes and didn't really get it. But... I bought the DVDs earlier this year. Wow! I LOVE that show. I still can’t stand that show. Now, if it was something like “The Adventures of Stewie,” I’d be all over that in a second. But I absolutely despise the “father” (and I use that term loosely). I know he’s supposed to be a clueless loser, but to me he just comes across as a bad Homer Simpson ripoff.
  19. I think, no suspect, that I'm getting that for Christmas. See, my son wrapped a present for me and pointed it out to me a couple weeks ago. I could tell it was a DVD of some sort, and of all the DVDs I asked for, this is the only one that he would comprehend, much less enjoy (he’ll eventually come to love the Marx Bros., but not for another couple years). That, and he asked if I wanted a hint, or if I wanted to open it NOW! I think he wants to enjoy it right alongside me!
  20. Discussion will commence once the answers to BFT 20 have posted!
  21. Reginald VelJohnson (from "Family Matters" and the Die Hard pics) as Count Basie! And I STILL say Ice-T should play Art Blakey!
  22. Can't beileve they didn't win by a wider margin than five points! I mean, Vinny about gave them every opportunity to run away with it. The ending of the Lions game was a heartbreaker. That poor rookie, I really feel bad for him.....
  23. Forgot to mention, this was also the year I finally got into James Brown, but oddly enough, it's his post-Bootsy 70's work that has been spinning my groove all this time!!! PICK UP ON THIS!!!!
  24. FWIW, I always considered Headquarters to be more of a Nesmith solo project than an actual Monkees album. "What Am I Doing Hangin' 'Round" is the best song never done by the Byrds. Prison is more of the slicked spacey stuff. But if you can find Elephant Parts on DVD, that is some of the funniest shit EVER!!! Especially the part about Elvis Drugs (Love Me Tenderizers, All Shook Uppers, and Blue Suede 'Ludes). But the REAL star of those 1st National Band records was Red Rhodes and his pedal steel.
