  1. I think, no suspect, that I'm getting that for Christmas. See, my son wrapped a present for me and pointed it out to me a couple weeks ago. I could tell it was a DVD of some sort, and of all the DVDs I asked for, this is the only one that he would comprehend, much less enjoy (he’ll eventually come to love the Marx Bros., but not for another couple years). That, and he asked if I wanted a hint, or if I wanted to open it NOW! I think he wants to enjoy it right alongside me!
  2. Discussion will commence once the answers to BFT 20 have posted!
  3. Reginald VelJohnson (from "Family Matters" and the Die Hard pics) as Count Basie! And I STILL say Ice-T should play Art Blakey!
  4. Can't beileve they didn't win by a wider margin than five points! I mean, Vinny about gave them every opportunity to run away with it. The ending of the Lions game was a heartbreaker. That poor rookie, I really feel bad for him.....
  5. Forgot to mention, this was also the year I finally got into James Brown, but oddly enough, it's his post-Bootsy 70's work that has been spinning my groove all this time!!! PICK UP ON THIS!!!!
  6. FWIW, I always considered Headquarters to be more of a Nesmith solo project than an actual Monkees album. "What Am I Doing Hangin' 'Round" is the best song never done by the Byrds. Prison is more of the slicked spacey stuff. But if you can find Elephant Parts on DVD, that is some of the funniest shit EVER!!! Especially the part about Elvis Drugs (Love Me Tenderizers, All Shook Uppers, and Blue Suede 'Ludes). But the REAL star of those 1st National Band records was Red Rhodes and his pedal steel.
  7. Aww HELL YEAH!!!! Makes you forget he was ever a Monkee, and some of the finest country-rock EVER issued!
  8. Alriiight!!! That was one I was concerned about, going to Rio and all! Yaaaaay!
  9. As of yesterday, Blakey's FREE FOR ALL just shot to the top of the list!!! This is the SHIZZIT!!!!!
  10. You know it. Disc two is good, but for sheer unexpurgated Fahey, this is the place to start. Of course, you get this and then you'll want to get the Takoma titles which are no Fantasy (and which thankfully started pouring out right after I bought this set some 9 years ago). I just wish Fantasy would right things up by restoring the '67 version of "The Transcendental Waterfall." Ah well, I guess that's what LP-transfer software/equipment is for.
  11. AAAARRGHHHH!!!!! BASTARDS!!!!!
  12. Also, Charlie Brown specials must be sponsored by Dolly Madison. You got THAT right!!!
  13. Joe Pass - SIX STRING SANTA To the first person who sends me a PM. Of course, if anyone's feeling any holiday generosity, I'd love an RVG in return, but again it's not a requirement. I got this disc cheap, so it's my pleasure to give it away.
  14. Not exactly sure. I thought it was on CBS for quite some time. All of the Charlie Brown specials used to air on CBS for the longest time. The switch was recent, sometime in the last five years, but I don’t remember exactly when or why. How many people remember the spinning "special" logo on CBS? For me, it isn't a real Charlie Brown special without it. You can see it here. (requires RealPlayer). Sweeet!!! I forgot all about that. Now that you mention it, it DOES seem sorta strange not having that precede the Charlie Brown Christmas!
  15. Laughed so hard, almost woke up the house! Wonder how it read in German? Perhaps this: Bäääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää ääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääärf!!!
  16. Have you noticed how Linus puts down his "security blanket" when he recites the words ".... Fear not!..." Now that you mention it, I remember that really struck me long ago -- but I haven't watched this in years... I watched this tonight and noticed it for the first time in over 30 years of watching this special! That was so nice, I felt a shiver go down my back! Thanks again for pointing that out!
  17. No kidding! This is funnier than ANYTHING you and I (or our writers, past and present, dead and/or alive) have come up with lately!!!
  18. Anyone?
  19. Really, I'm surprised they chose Paul Rodgers. George Michael was too busy? I mean, if there's ANYONE whose whole act has screamed "I wish I were Freddie Mercury".......
  20. That's JUST the reaction I was looking for!!! B-)
  21. Supposedly, there’s another 60%-off/No-S&H sale with this code: L4LC9 But every time I enter it, it comes up as an invalid code. Someone wanna check that out and see if it works for you? Otherwise, I’m thankful that 888-number was posted a few posts back!
  22. Maybe Braff was referring to someone like Oscar Peterson? I don’t know, but one thing that separates Wilson from the pack that Braff refers to is the fact that, even if Wilson is soloing beneath the other soloist, he never does so at the expense of the main soloist. Again, I refer to “All of Me” from Prez & Teddy. EVERY note played is a complement to what Lester has just played, and if you really think about how fast on his feet Teddy’s thinking is, you can’t help but marvel that every note is a masterpiece of lightning-quick-thinking and melodic beauty.
