  1. 21 so far! This promises to be fun! Anyone else before the big mailout this weekend?
  2. Wow! Thanks for the link! I'm glad these are being archived. Got THE CONNECTION on right now! Thanks again, GoM!
  3. Welcome!!! Check out this thread for a whole slew of animated album covers. They're great!
  4. What Sal said! I’m just hoping the DVD has some kind of commentary or pop-up screen that explains all the culture references and in-jokes. Did anyone else think of Maximilian from The Black Hole when Mr. Incredible was fighting that robot the first time?
  5. Cool! Can't wait to get to work tomorrow morning to download it and hear it (work's got the DSL, home's only got the 56k dial-up!)
  6. Yes, what they all said before: GET IT!!!! My favorites are the two takes of "Double Talk" but it's all wonderful!
  7. Wow! I wonder why the Ron Carter isn't on the list anymore?
  8. Oh yeah, my man! You're in for a treat!
  9. Ouch! RIP Mrs. Rollins.
  10. I did a search and didn't find a thread on this hilariously quirky show! If one exists, someone point me in that direction and I'll delete this thread ASAP! I keep missing this show Sunday nights, so I rented the first disc of the DVD box at Blockbuster. Holy cow, I can't stop laughing! There is nothing, NOTHING, remotely likable about any of these people, which makes it all the more enjoyable! Don't know much about the show or its origins, but I'm sure the name of the patriarch--George Bluth--wasn't exactly an accident! Anyone else out there a fan? Anyone have any deeper insight than the slavish praise I'm heaping on it?

    New Fantasy SACDs

Apparently, these are hybrid SACDs, which is good news for me since I don't own an SACD player, but have been looking forward to an upgrade for the Getz/Tjader!
  12. Aw c'mon man, Patton's burning under Johnny & Joe should bump that score up T LEAST by .01542!
  13. No kiddin'? Well, I can appreciate that, to each his own, & all that. For me, their sensitive backing is a highlight, especially on "Elsa," which IMHO is played in its definitive version on this album. I guess in the end, Bill Evans sounds like he's making a concerted effort NOT to sound like "Bill Evans," and it works. To these ears, anyway!
  14. Somethin' Else, of course, with Know What I Mean running a very close second!
  15. Jazzmatazz lists the following CTI reissues for February 15 of 2005: Ron Carter - Blues Farm (CTI/Epic/Legacy) Feb 15 Deodato-Airto - In Concert (CTI/Epic/Legacy) Feb 15 — with two previously unreleased bonus tracks Paul Desmond - Pure Desmond (CTI/Epic/Legacy) Feb 15 Astrud Gilberto with Stanley Turrentine - Astrud Gilberto with Stanley Turrentine (CTI/Epic/Legacy) Feb 15 — with two previously unreleased bonus tracks Idris Muhammad - House Of The Rising Sun (CTI/Epic/Legacy) Feb 15 — with two previously unreleased bonus tracks Nina Simone - Baltimore (CTI/Epic/Legacy) Feb 15 Gabor Szabo - Macho (CTI/Epic/Legacy) Feb 15 — with three previously unreleased bonus tracks Stanely Turrentine - Don't Mess With Mister T. (CTI/Epic/Legacy) Feb 15 — with three previously unreleased bonus tracks Various Artists - CTI: The Soul Jazz Legacy - 2 CDs (CTI/Epic/Legacy) Feb 15 — compilation of tracks hand-picked by DJ Peter Young of London's The Soul Cellar Anyone familiar with any of these? I'm looking frorward to Pure Desmond, but there's a lot on there that intrigues me: Gilberto/Turrentine, Idris, Gabor, Mr T, and Ron Carter. I just wish Dno Sebesky's Giant Box was on this list, but maybe another time!
  16. FWIW, according to Jazzmatazz, BMG Germany is reissuing this in 24-bit sound on December 7.
  17. Yep, but only if the fruitcake stays in. Of COURSE I'm staying in!!! Just foolin' Al--I'll be more than happy with whatever you send. Heck, if I can get it done before next weekend, I’ll throw it in for everyone just for grins. That’s if I get the time, and that’s a mighty big IF.
  18. I wonder if I should add JSngry to the list now, or wait for him to sign up after all the discs have gone out?
  19. Yep, but only if the fruitcake stays in. Of COURSE I'm staying in!!!
  20. What is it with Hotmail and incoming e-mails from Europe?!?! Can you PM me as well? Sheesh, I guess Gates is still sore about that fine levied against him by the EU!
  21. Got that one! Youse is on the list!
  22. This album took a while to grow on me. Before it was released as an RVG, a friend made a burn of the first four tracks (along with all of Green Street), so I missed out on the mammoth 14-minute “For All We Know,” which for me is worth the price of admission alone. Now THAT’S a track to listen to while cruising down the highway in the middle of the night. The way Big John just BURNS underneath Johnny C & Joe is just all sorts o’ soulful. May not be the fieriest entry in the annals of the Holy Trinity of Greeeeaze, but it’s a grand album nonetheless! I’m gonna go put it on right now!
  23. Everyone's been responded to, and the list has been updated as of this morning!
  24. Can you send it again, or PM me? I haven't received it yet and wanna include ya!
  25. How about the sides on the Chronological Classics discs? Worth checking out?
