Well, as you can tell, I let July slip by without a BFT, and August is currently empty. Additionally, I've had one member ask to be removed from the list and I've added Durium & jeffcrom to the list, so what you see above is how the list looks at this moment. Thom, if your offer is still open and you'd like to jump in for August, it would be appreciated. As always, I'm all for helping with the usual distribution. However, with participation seriously lagging, I am once again asking for response from members on the current list: PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST WITHIN THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. Whoever has not posted to this reply by Sunday, August 9 will be removed from the list and names after that will move up a month. Thanks, as always, and feel free to sign up again!

Well, due to my inactivity around here, I've seriously dropped the ball as BFT organizer. I never contacted EKE BBB and dmitry for their respective runs. Allow me to run the "Calling All BFTers" thread again, and then I'll put you on the list.

Nice find! That's a really good one. Indeed, nice catch! And I thought finding my copy for $25 was a steal! Well tonight was my lucky night as I found "This is Tal Farlow" and "Art Farmer-Benny Golson Jazztet Here and Now" both for $18!!! You mean a total of $18 or $18 each? Thinking back, I believe I got Impression Of A Patch Of Blue for $12, if memory serves. $18 for both!!!!!!!!!! $10 for the Farlow and $8 for the Jazztet! I yelled out NO WAY! in the store! HA! I did the same thing when I found the Dickerson!
-
What's the eBay link?
-
Found Walt Dickerson's IMPRESSIONS OF A PATCH OF BLUE last month at a FYE in Virginia for $7.
-
Hey, whatta fantastic idea!!!
-
Thank you Victor Martinez!!!!
-
Yes they are! Happy birthday, Dick! (See the notes to Terry Gibbs Dream Band, Volume 5)
-
Okay. The price for the Eldridge set has one too many zeroes.
-
Is that the same album as Mercury MG 36103? It's got the same cover, but the title on my LP doesn't say anything about a quartet.
-
Yes yes, y'all!!! EDIT: Whoops! Already posted about this album. Oh well... it's that good!
-
Glad I'm not the only one!
-
Anything with Blakey And a special nod to the album CEDAR!!!

For the metroplexians: There's a place called CD Addict at the intersection of Josey and the President George Bush Turnpike (yes, that's what it's called). When I was in there on Thursday, they had the following K2's: Workin' with the Miles Davis Quintet Relaxin' with the Miles Davis Quintet Steamin' with the Miles Davis Quintet Thelonious Monk Trio Thelonious Monk & Sonny Rollins Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane Wes Montgomery - Full House I think they had some others, but I'm going from memory here. Happy hunting!

...and eligible once again to win a World Series, now that a Democrat's in the White House--my pet weird theory! From 1960 on: NY Yankees in World Series with a Republican in office: 0-5 NY Yankees in World Series with a Democrat in office: 8-2 (and 6-0 from 1977 on) Well, now you know why I've voted Republican all these years. And you thought it was simply because I'm a boring, stodgy old conservative!

Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined the Rangers taking the season series from the Red Sox. I mean, do you realize what has happened here? Do you know what this means??? Absolutely nothing. It's still July. Nobody's running away with anything, and everything is still possible. Of course, it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if the m#&^#%$#&^%$&^@ing Angels would PLEASE start losing! Suck it up, Dan. The season isn't over yet, not by a long shot. If by yet another miracle the Rangers make it to the post-season and/or the Red Sox don't make it to the post-season, then yes, you could probably point to these games as turning points in the respective seasons. But I'm still not holding my breath. Not this early in the season. Not when your team is .585 and two games back, and mine is .559 and three games back. And you better get your ass back in here because when the Red Sox and Rangers do start to make my life miserable (i.e. Red Sox start winning, Rangers start plummeting), if you're not in here flying into your daily rages, then you are not allowed back on the Red Sox bandwagon. There's only room for one of us here in the loser's gutter, and I've got squatter's rights!

I'm a big mono-phile, in general, but as with the White Album, I think that the work on "Notorius" went into the stereo version and the mono was done quickly. After listening to it, I have to agree. However, the only thing with which I have to compare the mono is the CD reissue, so that might be skewering my opinion. BUT...... having my favorite Byrds album on MONO VINYL and being able to watch my favorite record "label" spin around in circles made this worth every penny!
-
I'm happy to report that the new location is OH SO SWEET! Not much bigger, and we almost drove right by it as it seems to have taken residence in what was once probably someone's house. But hey, I walked outta there with three mono records for under $30, so I stand by my earlier assessment: DOC'S ROCKS!!!
-
Mono copies of the following LPs I've been hunting down for a while: The Ventures Knock Me Out (with the correct song order; apparently this is more rare than the "incorrect" version) The Colorful Ventures The Notorious Byrd Bros. All for under $30.
-
That's cool! I've been wanting to hear this in mono since I read the book about this album in the 33-1/3 Series of books about LPs. Plus, I just love watching that Columbia label spin!
-
I FOUND AN ORIGINAL MONO NOTORIOUS!!! I FOUND AN ORIGINAL MONO NOTORIOUS!!! I FOUND AN ORIGINAL MONO NOTORIOUS!!! I FOUND AN ORIGINAL MONO NOTORIOUS!!! I FOUND AN ORIGINAL MONO NOTORIOUS!!! FOR ALL OF SIX BUCKS!!!! (caps lock pounded into the keyboard on purpose)

I think my days of jazz buying are drawing to a close. 2,359 titles in the oldies.com sale, and I could only find TEN discs? And two of them aren't even for me, they're for a friend! I have yet to push the button, and I may just whittle it down to the two titles for my friend. I've got more than enough music to last a few lifetimes, and for some reason the joy of looking for music and buying music has left me. Hell, for the longest time it seemed as if I would buy stuff just because I might listen to it later and it was at a good price. Well, a lot of those discs are still waiting for me to listen to them and I've had 'em for a LONG time! Although my wallet is happy, this is a major bummer for me. I just don't have the time or the energy anymore. And that's depressing because this was one of the true joys of my life, and now I don't enjoy it anymore. And I know everyone says that everyone goes through this once in a while, but this has been going on for MONTHS. I knew I'd reached a turning point when a friend of mine who lives outside the US asked if I would mind having the RAY CHARLES COMPLETE ATLANTIC BOX shipped to my house until the next time he was in the States. Even said I could open it up and listen to it. Well, that box has been sitting here for two weeks and I have yet to listen to even ONE of the discs! And it's not that I'm not curious or don't want to listen to it, it just feels very overwhelming right now, as does all music-listening right now. It feels like I'm listening to music out of a responsibility to justify the purchase(s) as opposed to listening to whatever is going through my head at the moment. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.
