I've Googled "Verve Originals" and nothing comes up. The Verve website doesn't list it as a series. Even Amazon's list isn't up-to-date. Does anyone know what all has been released in this series?

Not a song, but a whole album: Getz/Gilberto Once "The Girl from Ipanema" starts, I leave the whole album on and remember why this is and always will be one of my top-five albums ever. Love to hum along with Joao when he sings (and occasionally I get some of the pronunciations right!).

Looks like the front-office has already written off next season as well.... With Tom Hicks running this team (into the ground), I feel like we have baseball's equivalent of the Detroit Lions. Sure there are worse teams than the Rangers, but every damn one of them that have been around a lot longer (and some not even as long) have won a playoff series, some even a World Series. As long as shit like this keeps happening and as long as Hicks/Hart is still running the show, it's gonna be a looooooooooooong time before we see any post-season play around here. I've said it before and I'll say it again: if I'm Michael Young, I'm calling my agent and demanding a trade right now to a serious contender. This guy's career is going to waste on the Rangers, and if he was on a respectable baseball team, he'd be infinitely more popular. Having said all that, GO CUBS!!!!

3 times in '99, '98 & '96 each time losing in the first round to the eventual champion Yankees. Their moment of glory was winning game 1 in '96 vs. the Yanks 6-2. It was a close series as game 2 went 12 innings. Game 3 took a 2 run on-the-road 9th for the Yanks to win. In the clinching game 4 the Yanks came back from a 4 run deficit. In 1999 the Yankees swept the Rangers in 3 games and allowed 1 run for the series! Thanks for the reminder......

Hey now! ... See Diamondbacks (entered MLB with Rays), and Marlins. No offense intended, it was more of a smackdown on my beloved Rangers than anything else. If the Rays win this year, you can add them to the list of teams younger than the Rangers who've won the World Series. Hell, at this point, if the Rays win ANY game in the post-season, you can add them to the list of teams younger than the Rangers who've WON a playoff game! Not to mention clutch-hitting, decent defense, ....... you know, the stuff the Rangers generally trade away so they can acquire either a "power-hitting" outfielder or a washed-up pitching "veteran".....

I am SO glad the Chargers won last night. I wanna see Favre lead the Jets to a 1-15 season, while the Pack goes 15-1. Unrealistic? Probably, but that's how low Favre is on the totem-pole for me.

According to my Father-in-Law, 1960. I just want to know why we got 9 sacks against Pittsburgh yesterday but could not manage to get ONE against Dallas. I mean the Eagles' D couldn't stop Dallas at all Monday night. And yesterday they kept to Steelers out of the end zone and held the NFL's leading rusher(coming into the game) to 20 freakin' yards. What happened in those 6 days between the Dallas and Pittsburgh games? Yeah, but even I will admit that last Monday's game was THE worst-called game I've ever witnessed. There were so many missed calls, I was starting to think I'd switched on a Pee-Wee football game instead, or at the very least the refs were on Jerry Jones payroll. Not complaining, mind you ; just acknowledging the facts.

With last night's loss, the Rangers are guaranteed yet another below-.500 season. On the plus side, it's been a long time since they were even this close to .500. On the realistic side, Tampa Bay is going to the playoffs and the Rangers aren't. That's like watching a child prodigy graduate high school at the age of 11, while you've been a career senior for over 30 years.

Yeah, this is a heckuva deal! Got my copy this week! Certainly someone at Newbury has noticed the same guy coming in every week to buy this set.

Was going to get the Boogaloo disc, but then I noticed that it's already part of the Legends of Acid Jazz series, which is still in print and, IIRC, sounds pretty good already (that and the fact that it's couple with another album onto one disc makes this the more logical choice for me). Same for the Burrell. I see it's still in print as an OJC. But, like Lon, I've been impressed with the Prestige RVGs I've heard so far, so I don't see any reason NOT to wait for this RVG.
