  1. I'll bet those sound sweet!
  2. Never in a million years would I have thought that the Rangers could play a game just as exciting and intense (albeit meaningless) as the Cowboys on the same night. I sure love that kid Taylor Teagarden, homegrown local talent! I hope the Rangers don't squander this one away.
  3. Well now that it's the morning after and the adrenaline has worn off and I've slept some, I can now clearly comment on last night's game. I know one thing: I sure feel sorry for any Eagles fans whose hearts might've gotten ripped out last night. I'm just kidding: I never feel sorry for Eagles fans! Although, to be fair, I thought last night's game was probably THE worst-officiated game ever called in the history of the NFL. There were at least TWO blatant face-mask calls that should've been called against the Cowboys (one damn-near ripped an Eagle's head off!); later in the game, pass-interference was called against the Cowboys when the Eagles receiver had a wad full of Cowboy uniform in his hand and was dragging along the Cowboys defender who had his hands in the air. Just pitiful! Where do they get these guys, the NBA? I mean, I hate the Eagles as much as anyone else, but until that pass-interference call, I was really starting to wonder if the refs were on Jerry Jones payroll! You have to admit, though, that last night's game was one of the most exciting, intense, and frustrating games ever played. I don't care what anyone says: neither one of those teams is going to the Super Bowl. The Eagles can't finish off a big game, and, like I said before, the Cowboys keep shooting themselves in the feet with stupid penalties and costly blunders. Mark my words: this ain't the Cowboys year, either.
  4. I thought I was the only one who was bugged about those stickers!
  5. Man, I'm glad I got this one. Got it as a Father's Day gift this year from my family. Wonderful music from start to finish. Scrape any available dollars and coins together and get this set! This is one not to be missed!
  6. Well, don't feel bad: the Cowboys won't ever win a Super Bowl with all those damn penalties they keep committing.
  7. Couldn't agree more. Got Piper, Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, and Wish You Were Here lined up for the rest of the day. A lasting memory will always be the Live 8 concert and a close-up they got of Rick Wright playing the piano during "Wish You Were Here." Sent chills down my spine. RIP, and thanks for the wonderful music.
  8. I think the Hoffman site has turned me into an anti-audiophile. Yesterday I bought the new Metallica album. Went to the Hoffman site to try and find some reviews about the music and there was maybe one comment about the material for every ten posts screaming about how loud the album was. Yes, it's bone-crushingly loud. Last time I checked, metal was supposed to be that way! The new REM album and the new Elvis Costello record are also allegedly too loud, but they're good enough for me, though, and I have nothing even resembling a high-end stereo system. Hell, most of my listening is done in the car (usually with the windows down) or at work (usually with the Windows down. haha). I am very likely the poster child for the dark side of the "loudness war."
  9. Happy Birthday, Dan, and thanks for the stupendous CD sale!
  10. First no-hitter in 36 years. Cubs now have a baker's dozen. HOLY COW!!!!! :excited::excited::excited:

  12. Judging by the shot of his hands, it's as if they wanted you to think the B3 was the entire orchestra. Well, it fooled me... Now cut that out!!!
  13. Is it Jimmy Smith Plays Pretty Just for You? Horace Silver THE STYLINGS OF SILVER, Blue Note 1562. The Jimmy Smith is Blue Note 1563!
  14. I can dig it!
  15. Auction HERE
  16. Hope I haven't caught you too late: SG w/Almeida is part of the box!
  17. Based on the track listings from AMG, these are the tracks missing from the new box: Ebony Samba (alt. take) Tribute to Stan (from the Jazz Samba Encore sessions) Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars) It Might as Well Be Spring Eu E Voce (Me and You) Only Trust Your Heart Telephone Song One Note Samba (all of these from the Getz Au Go-Go sessions, although that album has never been fully represented on either box) Corcovado (outtake from the Stan Getz With Laurindo Almeida sessions) Eu E Voce (Me and You) Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars) The Girl from Ipanema (from the Carnegie Hall concert that produced the Getz/Gilberto #2 album. These tracks did not appear on the original GG2 LP, but appeared as bonus tracks on the GG2 CD. To make matters more confusing, GG2 is not on EITHER "bossa nova" box). So, even if you were to get the new box, plus the recent re-issues of Getz Au Go-Go and Getz/Gilberto #2, you'd still be missing out on the tracks in bold. That said, it still seems to be a good deal, especially if you're a BMG or Yourmusic member.
  18. FWIW , I'd rank those the least of Farrell's six CTI sides , largely because of Joe Beck . I'd rate Moongerms and Outback at the top , followed by Quartet and Penny Arcade . Canned Funk is the only Farrell CTI I haven't heard. Have to agree about Upon This Rock, though. It's okay, but nowhere near a Moon Germs or a Penny Arcade. Here's how I would rate the five I've heard: Moon Germs Penny Arcade Outback Quartet Upon This Rock
  19. First post updated. Face still unchanged.
  20. Yeah, but will you throw in the car if I buy the Dex RVG's?? No, but you'll get an etc. How many miles on the etc.? No miles, just a wayne.
  21. and I know Chuck has an 8-Track in HIS car! Which, as we all know, has the ONLY 8-track copy of Snurdy McGurdy stuck in it.
  22. Well, I've had the face for over 38 years and people had been screaming for an upgrade, so..... Anyway, it was awful nice of that Dr. Van Gelder to take care of me, but those tubes.....
  23. Yeah, but will you throw in the car if I buy the Dex RVG's?? No, but you'll get an etc.
  24. Al, you didn't make clear. Was it the RVG etc? No, it was the recent TOCJ-9000 issue. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the OBI strip and I didn't want to offer an incomplete etc.
  25. Also, I forgot to mention international shipping on my original post. That's been updated.
